I wonder if the outrageous and unapologetic lying is intentional, to create a storm to distract from the even more serious shit going down--Trump has gone back on his promise to release tax returns and full disclosure about foreign income and business dealings, as well as investments. And his cabinet nominees are in trouble, refusing to answer background questions, and losing support.
After the rally anti-Trump people are energized, and I imagine Senators are feeling more like standing up to Trump and his nominees.
