Unit State of California = don't tread on me

The short answer is no. There isn't the support for this that the media implies and it isn't just up to California to be able to leave. We have no trade agreements, no currency, no military, and we are already back to deficit spending in our budget. Even if the rest of the US was willing to see California leave, Mexico would invade California and take it over in about five minutes.

If the rest of the nation could vote on it... California would be on its own.

Yes it is the 6th largest economy but we would need to form a NEW monetary form. To pay for any goods and services. Plus tariffs from exporting and importing outside of CA....

Physics, where have you been for the last 6 months?
1. We can create a currency, trade agreements, and a military (just collect together all the rednecks with guns already - we probably have more guns in CA than most countries)
2. If we ship all the jailbirds to Nevada and take over the medical delivery system in the state, we are well on the way to a budget surplus. We will have the 6th largest economy in the world.
3. There will be a wall between Mex. and US. Plus there will be a wall between CA and US. No one's invading us.
4. And we won't care because of the new law allowing...never mind, let's not go there.

Taxes will soar.
California currently gets .79 cents back on every dollar sent to the Federal Government.
No Army, Navy or Air Force. No money for roads, immigration, law enforcement. How about Medicare? You can receive your Social Security payments if living elsewhere however Medicare is mostly available in the USA.
They'll need their own border patrol along the southern border but also I-15 and other roads going out-of-state.
They could still use the U.S. Dollar however they can't print it they would have to have their own currency reserves for each country. New Trade deals for each state and each country.

Trump should sell it to Mexico. If they can't afford it, China probably would buy it. Good riddance. Unfortunately for me, I'll need to move since I don't speak Spanish or Chinese. Of course, speaking the country's language is not a requirement of living here, so maybe I'll be just fine as a Spanish language learner. Might even get on public assistance that way.

California secedes from the Union. Starts paying for all of the things previously provided by the Federal Government-- but ALSO takes in all of that tax money previously collected for the Federal Government = same services, same taxes as far as the people are concerned, BUT big net revenue increase for the Government in California
Interesting none of you have recognized that while you're screeching about how California will manage to pay for government services without the rest of the U.S. The real question is-- is the extra income enough to cover the current state deficits, or will we still be in a spending hole? Basic point is-- it's not the bleak economic picture y'all keep trying making it out to be.
2nd point-- if California properly negotiates secession with Congress and is able to go peacefully-- most likely we'll either have a treaty that says we continue to contribute to the U.S. military and the U.S. military still defends us, or we get to keep the California National Guard (Army and Air)-- which is enough by itself to kick Mexico's ass if they try anything. Defense problem solved also.
I still don't think secession is really gonna happen, although it's a better idea than y'all are giving it credit for.
