Keep in mind, Obama is prolly one of the few who know details about this Russian-Trump thing, since the calls were intercepted by US Intel while Obama was Pres and he got daily briefings (must have included this stuff). He knows who called, how many times, what was said. Seems he made a tough call not to say anything other than he asked for an investigation.
Maybe that was part of Russian election-tamper strategy, to intentionally talk in monitored conversations, so Obama would attack and appear partisan or drive more of a wedge between Trump and the intel professionals.
Obama may have a duty to make sure this is not covered up.
