As a part owner, did Jimmy have to fire himself??? How did that work?
That North Korean ninja assassin Magic used was really really good in this case cause no one's even heard about anyone dying or any bodies being found (anyone heard from Mitch?).
I bet Dodger dogs mysteriously appear at Staples this week. And Doyer caps and jerseys...
So she fired one of the owners???? Well that should make for some smooth sailing in the future...or not. We'll see how big Jimmie's ego is.
I understand he's still one of the owners but as a fired head of bball operations his ego could have been bruised. And he still has some leverage as a part owner. Let's see how big his ego is.

Jim buss was going to be out. Magic was there to ease the way. Kupchak out 2 days before the trading deadline seems questionable unless there is more magic going than just johnson.
Him and sterling can start a new league of midget b-ballers

LS Iwant Doc most if not all of the Asian boyz

Maybe Rob Pelinka as GM? Thats one of the latest rumors...

I'll take the Rolex you take the chains and rings?

Its about time ever since West left the LAKERS have slowly gone down hill granted they won a few championships without him, but he established the core of the franchise. Mitch K gave it ago but he is no west or Magic. Lets hope Magic puts in the effort this organization needs we have some good young players.

Jerry West's contract will be finished at the end of this season, I'm hoping Magic can convicnce the Logo to come back to the Lakers as a special consultant and bring back his expertise and wizardry as he has done with Memphis and Golden State.
There was talk Kupchak was fired because he couldn't get a deal done to acquire Cousins.
It was reported they were dangling Ingram but settled for Buddy Hield? I'm glad they didn't give up Ingram...
Now we just have to some how get rid of Mozgov and Deng's huge contracts

Great move by Ms Buss. Looks like the organization can start winning again. It may be a few years but they will be back. Now we need Phil. Im going to enjoy going to the games again
And add to this, Lou Williams to the Rockets for a 1st round pick (#25) in a deep draft next season... Lakers also pick up Corey Brewer.
Jim Buss said that if he couldn't get in done in three years he should quit. Jeannie just saved him a couple of months of misery

All great comments above. Jim is a little kid who dabbled in the family business. For years all he did was go to the games with Jerry and party afterward. When Jerry got older and Jim took a larger role, Kupchak fell deeper into his conservative decision making hole. Now Jim can't recognize talent and Mitch is either afraid to make a decision (cross his boss) or can't close a deal. Add that to the last Kobe contract and here's where they are today.
With Magic's bball street cred, hopefully they play the salary cap better and actually attract solid free agents. Then the talent recognizing West comes along and they do much better in the draft.

Looks like Rob Pelinka is a lock for the GM too...
Interesting days ahead as the new Lakers organization retools itself for the new NBA and CBA...
It was going to happen sooner or later. Now, can we get a player like the Mamba. Probably not.
So what now?
when i woke up this morning to the news...had the same kinda feeling as when trump won the election. good or bad...we need something to change. hopefully good in both cases.
we need to be lucky this year...just one more time...flip of a coin odds basically...that could kill two drafts in a row.
Lakers now insearchof Paul George...
News flash! Magic is pursuing Kobe and Shaq to play for two years while they transition.
(easy, that was an expensive joke.)
they lose the pick...they also lose next years pick to orlando
if they keep it...the first round pick turns into two seconds for orlando
lots of pressure to be frigging lucky. they were lucky two drafts in row to keep the picks...just one more time...please. i said i would donate 1000 to the commissioner to make it happen(entertainment cost)....might need a few more to go in with me on it.
They need to bring in at least two big time players. For sure a Forward similar to Magic. And a bunch of others to replace what the Lakers have right now.
Magic wasn't a forward.
^^^ Correct
I meant Point Guard...sorry I live with dementia all day and night.
he was big enough to be one. I don't think i ever heard the term point forward in the 80's
but he was big ass point guard...yes we need to strike gold again for one just like him.

"Leverage to do what? He is not a singular majority owner so I guess he could cry in his cheerios."
Hey Das, Jimmie still has some leverage as a partial owner. Apparently Jimmie's butt was hurt by his ousting. He got with his bother (also a partial owner) to try and oust Jeanie from the Board of Directors. Jeannie legally blocked them in court from making the move. If they had succeeded, she could not be the President of the team. So Jimmie does still have leverage and his butt still hurts.
I love palace intrigue...and we're not just talkin about "draft moves."
Yes, but we haven't heard the last from Jimmie. He'll keep tryin to gunk up the works. Magic may really need to bring in a North Korean ninja.
Unfortunately they finished last in the playoffs too many times. But at least they're tryin.
Goodbye Buss brothers. Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
The only owner worse than Jim Buss is James Dolan, another son of a very smart man!
His dad was that guy from the Monkeys?
No it wasn't King Kong.
