A new study in The Journal of the American Medical Assoc. says processed foods (like bacon), red meat, and sodas are associated with heart disease, strokes, and diabetes.

Not looking good for the home team.

Face, actually bugs are a lot better for you than bacon. If "hum" meant hummus, you should be good to go. Mmmmmmm.

Vegan is the sustainable, and healthy (in my opinion), but how do you get a whole country to change their thoughts on something most consider so fundamentally American? That "American beef" stuff.

I predict that within 100 years 'they' will conduct this same 'study' many more times and come up with the same conclusion.

A study in the African Country of Angola assembled two groups of individuals for a comparison study in 2009.
One group continued their normal diet, the other was given a diet based on the principles of the American Dietary Recommendations for a healthy diet - that whole plate thing Mish did some years back. What the researchers found is that 40-60% of the Angolans that continued to eat what they normally eat, continued to be mal-nutritioned and sickly. The other group gained weight and was generally in better spirits.

Man, fuck your plant based diet shit. I eat a salad sometimes, throw veggies next to the chunk of carcass selection of the day also. We are biologically designed to eat meat. Our eyes are in the front of our heads because we are hunters and hence carnivores by nature. This is why we have incisors. If we were meant to be vegetarians, we would have big square teeth to chew plants with. Ok so some of our animal raising activities are questionable. We can do better there but we eat pig ass from a pan because it is good, not because it is good for us and if pigs had pans and thumbs, they'd eat a slice of our ass too.

Side note, that study originally quted could have been from 1997 and it would have said the same shit. That's not news. News is NEW...that's Olds.

I think even the "unhealthy" food from 50-60 years ago wasn't nearly as bad as the processed, packaged, mass-produced, etc food of today. The bacon that was nearly farm-fresh was probably better than the "health" drinks today. Basically, if it's packaged to give it a longer shelf life, it probably has some bad ingredients.
