Very true.
And the number of Americans killed by other Americans by gun violence is hundreds of thousands.
And the number of Americans who have died from treatable diseases because they can't afford healthcare was approximately 20 - 40,000 per year before Obamacare (not sure of the current stat).
The number of Americans who die prematurely from air pollution is estimated at 200,000 per year.
10,000 people die from drunk driving every year.
Since 1995, almost 200,000 people have died from prescription opiods.
If politicians - and particularly Republicans - honestly cared even a little bit about saving American lives, they would be directing their attention to these problems, not to to travel bans, walls and military buildups. But the truth is that they don't give a shit.

One of the most important role of the judiciary (esp. the Supreme Court) is to determine if and when a law runs afoul of the Constitution. This is a key check and balance on the power of Congress and the Executive. It was specifically designed to protect certain inalienable rights - and esp. individual freedoms - from tyranny of the majority.
This ridiculous notion of "liberal activist judges" has been lapped up by the ignorant being played by the right-wing party leaders to garner votes from people they are screwing. Go read the Federalist Papers before you spout off.
