Follow the money...

Power Rangers, give me a fruckin break.
Chandler, thanks for one possible (rationale) answer to my question. Any more actual thoughtful answers? (Chandler, comic book movies also have marketing budgets, etc. which burn money. Is the cost to actually make a comic book movie a lot less?)

Millennial dudes are so ghey.

They don't have to pay the actors the big bucks. There are no good actors they are all overrated. Not to say there are actors i like to see in the movies lego batman for one .

They have more international appeal too. A lot of movies would have been mega flops if the international market didn't save them

Actually I'm only talking US box office. Look at the weekend figures.

Because movies are expensive to take risks on and studios would rather acquire other companies and their properties to mitigate risks on trying out new things. Also you can't really put a price tag on decades worth of stories characters settings and situations that other people pained over so that studios can propel cinematic franchises for even more decades to come. Wait, yes you can.
Nostalgia is priceless but how many times can you reinvent the classics? Modernizing doesn't really count but it's a thing. I guess I can't complain.

Also for the record I hate millennials even though I am one but we are the first generation to almost exclusively derive our identities from pop culture. There isn't some great cause or movement to be a part of. Any that you can think of are for selfish reasons or from just being you know, stupid. Its hard to join up on something when the internet can dole out disinformation so quickly and plainly and cows can be lauded with fame and dollars for sex tapes and raunchy lyrics. I am not sure what else there is to "fight" for anymore. At least superheroes and Disney princesses can fight for ideas and abstractions that have cause and closure in about 90 minutes.

Becuz kids love animation! First gen grew up watching Disney and millennials grew up watching Disney too. Older Disney animation no longer attracts so the live action ones is to attract them to the original animation.
