Now just another hollywood attention whore.

I avoid her movies because she overacts and always looks for a reason to cry in her movies.
But I was impressed that she took the time to memorize the birthplaces of all those rising stars and share her moment with them.
Her jab at the NFL and MMA was unnecessary but the larger point was valid: it's not just whiny liberals who enjoy movies, t.v., and music.
More importantly, she addressed a huge concern: media, and all Americans for that matter, should be able to criticize Trump without fear of retribution or censorship. Trump hasn't even taken office yet and he's repeatedly demonstrated a tendency to slander his critics and even attempt to harm them financially from his throne. By immediately attacking Streep, he illustrated that point perfectly.

The media has attacked Trump through the entire election.... Wait I forgot, it was the Russians! Trump figured out how to neuter the media, by blowing them off. He had done us citizens a favor.
I don't know about you, but I don't watch shows like the awards to listen to some actor give their political views.

He hated the electoral college 4 years ago and now he thinks it's wonderful.
He loved Saturday Night Live in 2015 and then hated it in 2016 (when he felt insulted).
He loved Boeing at the start of 2016, then tried to cripple them at the end of 2016 (right after the Boeing CEO publicly expressed concern about the economy with Trump in charge).
He loved Streep in 2015 and then hated her when she asked Americans to celebrate diversity and respect the opinions of others.
But then again, even before the election, he had twitter beef with:

Once again, we have Hollywood types who decide rather than humbly thanking people for the award they received, decide to use their forum to voice their politics.
This is an awards show, NOT a political debate.
Take your views to a news conference, talk on the street corner, or run for office. We don't need to pollute every awards show with the views of stars who feel they know more than anyone else.
You are an actress, Meryl, leave it at that.....or put your hat in the ring and run for office.
