+100 Loki

On this most sacred of American holidays, I honor the sacrifices made by true heroes like Gomer Pyle, Beetle Bailey and John Winger.

To all you bastards that never served. Lost a true friend in combat.
All gave some....Some gave all.

Loki well said. I visited Arlington in person years ago and it was a very somber, sober yet moving place to visit. It truly tells its own story without uttering an audible word.
I received the message it sent loud and clear.

Welcome to Random Abyss where everything is funny..
I'll remeber.

I apologize for any insensitivity.
I left Sergeant Hulka and Juan Rico off the list of remembrances.

"1. Please don't wish someone a Happy Memorial day. There is nothing happy about brave men and women dying for their brothers and sisters."
I've never heard anyone say that. People really "wish" others a happy Memorial Day??

I think merry Memorial Day sounds better
Plus why not celebrate the lives of all the brave men and women who selflessly sacrificed their lives so we can live on. You think they would really want us to all mopey and down? No I think they want us to get grill buggers and hawt dawgs then get drunk and drive around twin honking our horns

Let's bust open some brewskis now

I never went in

|
I do have so much respect for those currently serving....
|
|
What about those who already served ?

To those who PM'd for info on where in SoCal these Memorial Day ceremonies are held:

The VA Cemetery in Westwood is easy to get to (Wilshire just east of the 405, use Sepulveda Blvd to enter) and has some of the best, most moving speakers and ceremonies.
