I just paid $51 for a synthetic change today. I could have saved a buck by not using any oil at all! D'oh!

Really?

Pennzoil 10-30 high mileage ever 3000 miles. I do about 90% of my own maintenance so oil changes is one of the things I do myself.
Oil recycling is free.

I change it myself every 3000 miles. I don't care if the manual says 5000 or even way more(!). Oil gets dirty, change it. I'm also done with cars that have the damn motor built around the filter.

What's wrong with clean and changed often?

At 157,000 on the engine my oil level is still on the full line after 3000 miles. This SUV is so much easier to change the oil on than the El Camino I use to own because I don't haft to jack it up to access the drain plug and filter.
I change the oil on my Harley every 2,500 miles. Since my Suzuki just sit most of the time I change the oil ever 1,000 miles. It's 12 years old with 3,900 miles.
