All caps is distracting and ridiculous. But selective caps can provide emphasis. Of course, in emails and documents, some people use bold for that emphasis. Since we don't have a bold button on HX, we are stuck with capitals for the emphasis....and no I am not going to the trouble of dealing html code.....

mj, if you use "all" too frequently it erodes its true meaning and then readers just mentally skip over it. They won't get the true emphasis of your meaning. Just tryin to help.

No DR....someone was pointing out that all caps is incorrect.....without bold and italics, we have no other way to emphasize words here on HX.....so anyone who gets their panties in a bunch about a few capitalized words are out of line.
I agree ALL CAPS for an entire paragraph or sentence is overkill and does seem like shouting. But a selective use of capitalization can be effective to call people's attention to a particular word or phrase. I find some people on this site don't read all that closely so if you are trying to catch their attention, capitalization can help do it....just saying....

But Grumpy....that $2 billion won't get you very far....I think the number I saw was it was about $1 billion for 20 miles of track...so you can go 40 miles....but probably not, since you will also have to buy the train.

Oh Grump, you know the cost overrun will be about 150%...so in the end you get about 2 miles of track with your train. I don't think that's enough to get it to max speed and then stop it. But look on the bright side, you'll still have something no one else has.

Clippers problems started WAY before Ballmer...maybe Ballmer jinx is compounding the problem...LOL.
The Clippers problems date all the way back to when they moved from Buffalo in the 70's and through the Donald Sterling ownership starting in the early 80's.

I was merely pointing out that this problem has been with them for a long time.....long before Ballmer got involved. It is HIS problem and his front office's problem now....but this isn't new for the Clippers.
And maybe just maybe they can learn from their OWN history....since it has been bad from nearly day one....

Far too many people do not look at their history and learn from their mistakes. The other expansion teams that came in when the Buffalo Braves did have all had greater success. A look at those reasons might help chart a more successful path. Or they can keep doing the same thing.
