Why let private enterprise do something when the government can do so much less for so much more money?
Of course not. Option 3 would be to do what Elon Musk did to rockets... reduce the unnecessary cost / high prices set by monopolies who don't innovate and don't really give a crap that their technology is decades old and their people are brain dead.
But that doesn't play well politically...

Obamacare = cover everybody and be out of office by the time the actual costs hit.
Typical of a politician.
Trampcare = cover lot less people and be out of office by the timetens of millions get cut off from insurance.
Typical of a politician.
(What's the difference??)

This is a very difficult problem that can be solved by more contributors or by contributors who have the finances to accomplish it. Things are hurting in this area. I have excellent coverage but in the area I am treated I have seen at least 2 physicians bite the bullet this last year.
Both were top of the line and one saved me from medical things progressing in a way that would have, could have been difficult. While one who is supposed to be tops missed it and is still there. I no longer see him.
My particular thoughts are private insurance coupled with some funded by government which can be possible when more production originates from our country and can make the healthcare system the capability to be dynamic instead of static.

considering there are only some 20 or so million on obammycare, most are illegals anyway
should they let the thing implode, they're no worse off than before it
90% of all citizens still have employer based insurance, which has nothing to do with the gov't crappy healthcare anyway
Face, are you callin me an illegal??
And I will be worse off if Obamacare goes. Since this is no longer the Franken Decade but the Tee Decade, what happens to me does matter. MAGA, BELIEVE ME

Spend NO Money and let the rich live well and untaxed and the poor die in the streets. It works well in India !
untaxed? please expound on that a little

Good one frog

I choose option 3. Pay for you own damn medical plan! Quit expecting others to pay for your expenses.
Affordable Healthcare is easy.
1) Cigarette, Alcohol, and Drugs. If we eliminated abuse of these, we wouldn't have a health crisis.
2) Babies cost a fortune. It takes a village, so have your damn baby in a village not a hospital
3) Old People- Hint: see Logan's Run.. Oh, that's me... OK..forget old people..
3) continue the fuckery. Covered California rates going up 12.5% next year.
Obamadontgiveashit and he isn't subject to it.

The top 50 richest families in the US are the oligarchs that run this country. About 45 of the 50 are far right wing Republicans lead by the Koch brothers. These oligarchs virtually all of whom acquired their wealth from inheritance pay income taxes only if they wish. Most simply they can avoid taxes indefinitely by living off interest invested in Municipal bonds. This is why the GOP went nuts when their boy Trumpy indicated that Puerto Rico bonds may not be repaid. The mega rich can also live off selling stock which they enjoyed a step-up when inherited. At worst they owe 14% capital gains if their stock went up after they acquired it. Of course they can avoid taxes altogether by just borrowing against assets or by depreciating real estate ( trumps favorite). A few years ago Congress made an attempt to get the top tenth of a percent to pay taxes with the ATM but it has never worked as designed. Some mega rich families do pay some income tax. The Hilton sisters probably paid some taxes an TV earnings. They do not however pay taxes on their trust distributions which are estimated at nearly $1,000,000/month.
The one time the mega rich ARE taxed is when they die. The Koch brothers will have their GOP lackies do anything and compromise anywhere to get this odious tax repealed. It's just like the world beloved Leona Hemsley once said "Taxes are for poor people".
