If you can deal with a burner phone, it's more convenient to add a user to your Android and use any apps like GV.

Another vote for Google Voice, but with Google Hangouts to call/text. Just make an additional "trap" GMail account/GV number on your phone.

Keep the account logged in on your phone, only when you want to deal with that HX life, and log that account off your phone when Nila tries to blow up your phone to grab some chicken and waffles!

:::Sadly only in my fantasies:::

handcent has a "private sms box" that needs a passcode to access.

Other than that, burner or google voice (on a "secondary" account) works well.

Just trying to help.

I currently use :
Hide my text- invisible
It hides all my text msgs , blocks all calls
On the ones i want to block, it makes you use their text messaging app for everyday texting
Which isnt bad
Just looking for a better choice

It doesnt block pictures which can be a surprise at times

But as far as texting it works

i second that sideline
just make sure to turn off notification, no access to contacts and forward calls to voicemail.

not sure it will be paid service but even so it might be a good choice.

Privacy hider. I dont have a rooted phone. Doubles as my calculator. I disabled my preloaded calculator. Hides pics, videos, apps, itsself and internet access as well.
Allows you to remove (ininstall) any original program and it runs independently and incognito. For instance, textnow, will run completely hidden.

Not being experienced as some of you. would this work?

"Stop fuckin texting me!"

Really now, I would tell my family and friends the same if it got outta control.
So anybody that doesn't get the message, Google Voice, and never see them again.

Have your own cell phone line from anyone else in your family and turn off paper statements so you need to log in to your own separate account if you want to see your bill.

Works for my friend.

I use EvolveSMS on Android.
It has normal and private text areas.
You designate a txt/contact as private and from then on when txt arrives you will be notified with the "download" icon and no contact name will show. Private txts appear only in passcode protected area.

It doesn't solve everything. For one it doesn't make your contacts private. And if you later switch back to the default messaging app then all those private txts are now visible. Still this satisfies my needs for hobby txting.
