The subsidies were an executive order by Obama. It was already ruled unconstitutional.
Trump rescinded it because of that fact.
Now Congress, which has the power of the purse, can decide whether to provide subsidies or not.
Maybe you need to take a few lessons in Constitutional Law and the Powers of the Branches....
Trump is trying to clean up a unconstitutional mess left by Obama.
But everyone hates him so bad, they put all kinds of crazy spin on what he is doing......He actually is doing it the right way.....Damn, what a crazy idea.

You need to read what I wrote, not what you want to read.
My point is he pulled them. Then supported them (as part of his support for the A/M compromise) and now is against the compromise. Oh, and he promised "really good healthcare" several times and is only delivering a shitstorm. The "really good healthcare" only appears to be for "really healthy people."

Just go to the free clinic like me.

Read what I wrote.
He pulled them because they were unconstitutional.
His comment was about support of a bipartisan healthcare bill aimed at stabilizing Obamacare is a step in the right direction, but the current bill does not meet his overall game plan. Damn, can't a person say they are in favor of an approach, but NOT in the actual details?
The Murray/Alexander bill has been in the works for months and has been moving all over the place regarding content. So as it changes, it can become MORE appealing or LESS appealing to Trump. That is how legislation works. He is in favor of supporting subsidies that actually help the consumers, but not just lining the pockets of the insurance companies.
|
|
^^So why doesn't he propose a solution to the subsidies issue if he's basically in support of them but not how they are paid now?
He never spells out what he'd like to see on most issues. He just throws hand grenades and then blames others for the debri.

He has outlined his plan. Items include:
Health care insurance purchased across state lines
Allowing associations (like AARP, CMA, etc.) to use buying capacity to purchase insurance plans for members
Allow states to craft their own health care alternative plans
Inclusion of health reimbursement plans with tax advantages
|
|
1. Who does such a plan benefit? (Who will pay more than today and who pays less?)
2. Will more or less people have health care down the road?
3. Why can't such a plan get passed by congress?

You might want to talk to a number of Canadian citizens to find out how their program REALLY works.
Thousands of Canadians come over the border each year to get procedures that they are on a huge waiting list to receive. Like many of the HMO providers in this country, the way it works financially is to 'ration' the care.

All of the Dems are voting in a block....so the only way to pass anything is to get 50 Republicans on board.
However, many of the Republicans are 'free thinkers', not like the blind sheep Dems who follow Chuck and Nancy.
So many of the Republicans have points they would prefer and rather than pass something, they will hold out for their cause. Bottom line...the American people are the one's who lose. Of course, our Legislators have their OWN plan and would never want to be involved in what the 'common' people have...LOL.

Sounds a lot like the Libertarian position.

The problem with Obamacare....we were all told a huge lie.
You can have your own doctor, you will pay less for your plan, etc.
However, no one really wanted to speak the words.....socialized medicine and that the middle class and rich people will pay for the poor to receive such care.
So we have this great program that is imploding under its own financial burden. Insurance carriers have bailed from the exchanges due to the major failure of the program....the healthy young people have opted to get the exemptions or pay the fines for not enrolling.
There were 12.7 million people enrolled in Obamacare for 2016.
There were 6.5 million people who opted for the penalty and that does not include the several million who have been granted exemptions....and those numbers have grown each year.

An executive order was made by obummer. Trump just rescinded it. Well within his powers as President. All my stats are totally accurate regarding the ACA. So if you are challenging something why donโt you actually put you ass on the line.

DR, this is one of the closest blogs to a civil (non-shouting) discussion I've seen on HX in a while, so I have to disagree with you (for once).
"Obama care was one big fraud. We have to pass it to see what's in it. Are you kidding me!"
Are you kidding me Lexmark, in case you haven't been following the news, this has been the Rep.'s (McConnell's ) main tactic during the Senate's whole "debate" on healthcare.
Jazz, if the subsidy issue is Tramp's biggest issue (and I haven't heard his rail against a lot of other healthcare things in the last week), why not find a compromise with the Dems. on this issue. Yes I'm sure there are other issues but he hasn't spoken out about as aggressively as he has about subsidies. And as you said, he's for subsidies to help the poor.
Unfortunately it looks like Tramp is just trying to get an election promise "win" so he looks "good" and better than Congress.
With Tramp's view of healthcare, who will insure people who are sick today and with pre-existing conditions? How do you prevent them from having to pay a lot more than the average American (as was the case before Obamacare, cause I know I was one of those people)? The CBO has already said the Rep. plans will reduce the future budget but millions will drop healthcare plans.
