His name is Robert Paulson.
He was the lyricist and he's abandoned his youthful obsession with Ayn Rand.

Look RandyMantooth.. I'm going to take your mother out to a nice seafood dinner and then never call her again. (Now if what I just said isnt lost on you I just might go against my better judgment and meet you... Even though you continue to toy with me and not so subtley hint that you know more about me than you should. ., I can't help it... I am slightly amused and becoming intrigued... Damn it.. )

Rush has lasted over 40 years! One of the best bands ever! You ignorant people who don't understand good musicianship need to shut the hell up..
Neil Peart is 1000 times better the Tommy Lee
I'm gonna say that he's a god among men

Rush is one of the best bands of all time.

Yes, STILL listening to RUSH. The R40 tour was amazing. Still waiting for them to tour again, if they ever do. Neil is likely riding his motorcycle around the world right now....

God dammit.
I posted this blog in 2017 when I noticed an HX lady had "the drummer from Rush" on her profile (can't recall if it was People I'd Like to Meet or Heroes section). I was poking fun, because to me it's like saying "the quarterback from the Patriots" instead of Tom Brady or "the host of Jeopardy" instead of Alex Trebek.
I just found out Neil died this week. Great songwriter who's lyrics evoke terrific imagery, and the guy most rock drummers point to as the best ever.
If you're not familiar, do yourself a favor and pour a bottle of wine, turn down the lights, put on good headphones and listen to side one of the Rush album "2112". I also recommend the songs below, in no particular order:
- Red Barchetta
- Tom Sawyer
- Limelight
- Closer to the Heart
- YYZ
Many others, but that's a good start. Rock on, Neil. Rock on.

Rush was quite the band. They seemed to have lots of people that loved or hated their sound. I fall on the love side. Really great unique music to listen to in my opinion.
whenever you get musical virtuoso's together you get greatness
cream, hendrix, the who, blue cheer, zeppelin, all 3 musicians and/or a frontman
He was indeed one of the great musicians of all time, a hall of famer. Sad loss, too young.
