You have the makings of a class action...

Sounds like the owner of that particular station was padding profits or something of that nature.
There was a Shell station that was on the way to Vegas, can't remember if it was Baker or the stop after that, but my car popped up some lights and was going nuts enough to where I barely made it to the dealership. They found water and other impurities in my gas and cost about 1400 to repair (even then it was still spitting out some flakes from the exhaust).
On my way back home I passed that station and it was closed... 5 days go by and it is closed. Tried to find out more info, but it went no where. Hopefully you and the other have better luck.

Personally I never touch the stuff, but today had to leaving lax.

Get their insurance information and file claim to repair your car... Quickest and easiest way to recover for the damage

My car wont even start now so im outta luck untill we all file claims.

Hey FD
A bunch of other cars broke down as well and one person came back with a sample that their mechanic tested ... It was almost clear .
Yea, as a car guy...that totally sucks. Make sure you take it to a qualified mechanic and document your efforts. Especially for litigation. If you need car advice, let me know. I'll help as much as I can.

Another station that does this is at the N/E corner of Burbank Boulevard and Woodman Avenue. I think it's a Shell.

If you want to go green start adding water to you tank on every fill-up. In two or three months it with never need fossil fuel again. We did that to all of our diesel trucks and completely weaned them off of diesel fuel in four months.
The down side is they only run on San Pellegrino and Perrier

This sucks! Hope its soapy water, wash the engine clean at least. 😐

Better b
I needed that laugh ^-^

You are welcome

betterb, "The down side is they only run downhill"
If you sue to recover costs, don't forget to sue for whiplash too. Oh, and mental anguish.

teeitup
At this time we are creating 87% of the manufactured listed bhp.
The other plus is you may drink the concoction especially with vodka .

Sounds like my kind of drink

I hope you saved your receipt when you purchased fuel from that station that day otherwise you're probably sol in making a claim. Sorry and good luck

^^^If she paid with cash, yes, but if with a cc or dc, the bank has a record of her purchase.

i never touch shell stations. My grandma had a similar story!
Also never touch off brand stations. I lived next to one in LB off 4th st. where i knew/had proof the owner was watering down the gasoline.
If there was water in the gas, you would not have made it into the street... if so Shell will be picking up all you expenses, including a rental car and repairs at a dealer...
My car never left the gas station i had it towed. Only a few cars who had gas in the car and came to top off their tanks made it down tbe street.
Not defending the dealer but there is no way they could hope to make money adding water to their tank. What they do to increase profits is to sell you .95 Gal for the price of a full gallon offset by minor bribes to the Dept. of Weights and Measures inspectors.
Always save your receipts or better yet pay with a credit card. CC receipts last essentially forever!

Wondering if this place has been closed for business?
That's sucks! Hope you get your car fixed soon!

I HIGHLY doubt the gas station did this on purpose....but perhaps guilty of poor monitoring of water levels and managing their tanks.
Underground storage tanks inherently take on water with time (for various reasons), thankfully, water is heavier than gasoline and falls to the very bottom of the tank and poses no real risk to customers, other than some potential corrosion and bacterial issues on the long-term for the gas station tanks themselves. Gas station owners has a system to monitor the water level to make sure it is not to high. If it is, there is a method to manage this (I am not sure how though). Only speculating, but sounds like the gas station owner failed to monitor and manage the water levels, to the point the pump pick-ups sucked up some water.
Point being, the gas station should be liable for any engine damage caused by this. It's a PIA but in the end, you should be fairly compensated, be it a repair or engine replacement.
Good luck.
