Texas and all the rest of the former Confederate States already tried that. It took President Lincoln and the Union forces a while, but their first attempt at secession wasn't very successful.

and this is exactly why i laughed after the election and people were talking about california seceding. cal. is (nearly) bankrupt and can't legislate it's way of simple problems and they expect to be able to function as a separate country? fifth larges economy doesn't matter if you can't control spending and the voters keep approving every spending measure.

California not only has a balanced budget, it has a surplus. As a duel citizen I will vote for California Secession and as a Canadian I will invite California, Oregon and Washington to join our dominion as three southern provinces.
