He came up with some phrases, like Chick Hearn, that are used by all announcers. The Granddaddy of them all aka The Rose Bowl. The Big House aka Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
Dick Enberg and Keith Jackson called the biggest college games in the 70s and 80s. Enberg calling hoops, Jackson on the gridiron. Not to overlook Enberg's announcing pro football and basketball or Jackson's long history calling pro football and basketball. Jackson was the voice of Monday Night Football as well as 70s NBA announcer (teamed with Bill Russell).
I'm attaching an amazing article about Enberg, who's calls of the two Notre Dame wins over UCLA are legendary and bookended the Bruins 88 game win streak. Shit...Jackson even called the great USC v Texas Rose Bowl of '06...which shows how long he did his thing. Enberg called the Rose Bowl for NBC in the early 80s. Jackson called the action in all the big sports baseball, football, basketball even some boxing. These guys cannot be replaced. Chick left us in '02. Now these guys in '17 and '18.

Enberg and jackson, The 2 best announcers in my lifetime, along with chick Hearn as mentioned above. Announcers today just are not the same. They don't have the individual personality of these guys.
