I alternate between low carb and low calorie.

My favorite things about "low carb" is the natural appetite suppressant of ketosis and being "allowed" to eat as much I'd like. I dislike the low food variety and the fact that my diet is completely derailed when I cheat and commit carbicide.

Conversely, my favorite thing about low calorie is the food variety but I struggle with appetite.

I have to disagree on the energy issue. I've done Keto or low carb and have just as much energy of not more.

I do high carb (mostly fruit). It’s the anti-aging serum! The good sugars fueling nerve and brain health!

The important thing is to eat a nutritious diet that provides the vitamins and micronutrients your body needs. You won’t get that from the standard American diet. I recommend mostly fresh, non-starchy vegetables and fruit. All processed food is unhealthy. When you look at the ingredients, and something contains 30 or 40 unpronounceable chemicals, those chemicals are not there to make the food health and nutritious. They are there to make it addictive, and to make it last years on the store shelf. Only someone with a high metabolism can eat the American diet and not get fat. And even then, you feel like crap all the time. Processed food contains way too much sugar and starch, and puts you on a roller coaster of sugar highs and crashes, always craving more food, and never satisfied.
