+1 to shawshank

I learn something new every day, I had no idea Shawshank Redemption was a Steven King story.I just always remember: "Andy crawled to freedom through five-hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want too. Five-Hundred yards... that's the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile."
Shawshank #1 with a bullet
Green Mile #2
Misery #3
Shawshank...no doubt...
Pet cemetery gave me nightmares for years after I read the book, Then the movie brought them back.
Creepshow was also good in a corny 80's kinda way!
King couldn't have written Shawshank...no creepy sh_t.
Stand by Me really taught everyone valuable life lessons.
The ending still gets to me.
Anyone else likes the mist?
The ending was so rad 🤭

Maximum Overdrive

Misery was also great!
That scene with the sledgehammer!!! Spooky
Fubar you remind me of Lee Ermey from Full Metal Jacket. Love it!

Dolores Claiborne anyone ending mind crapped me!
Gerald’s Game was awesome, Netflix nailed it. Just beware it’s a
Bit inappropriate. It keeps you on the edge of your seats!

Some Low Tee stuff on this blog...real Low Tee alte kaker be struggling for material.
There are so many good ones. Most of them covered by the learned HX'ers on this blog.
Why exactly is there no love for Firestarter? Ms Drew B and whole bunch of heat!!
1. Firestarter
2. Misery
3. Shawshank
4. The Shining
5. Stand By Me
When we discuss Apt Pupil and aged nazis hiding under rocks. I'll set a reminder on my Apple watch.
Yup Shawshank redemption
No, clearly Firestarter!!
I watched Stand By Me last night and bursted into tears. I can kind of relate since a childhood friend passed away a couple months ago. That movie is just a class act, would never expect Mr. King to finesse us with such great film.

Shawshank
Stand by Me
Shining

No love for Maximum Overdrive? Arguably Emilio's greatest role behind Repo Man & that movie that spawned an NHL hockey team
I am not a movie buff, but I will always remember "Stand by Me"

Ok I've long felt King is a far better short story writer than a longer effort...aka novels. I think both Night Shift and Skeleton Crew are exceptional.
As someone who has read most of his work over the past 25 years, King's greatest effort is Different Seasons. All four novellas are exceptional and thoroughly memorable. Apt Pupil, The Body, Rita Hayworth and The Shawshank Redemption and Breathing Lessons. Three of the four have been made into movies. Two of them appear on this blog in many comments. The Body / Stand By Me and Shawshank.
Apt Pupil deserved a better movie because the story is just so tremendous and so dark...a haunting work to be sure.
The character Red/Morgan Freeman in the novella is Irish and most certainly not Black. His name was Red for allah's sake. Freeman made the role his own and I do credit the filmmakers for having the guts and also the insight to make that change to the character.

Heyduke,
Thanks for that long overview of king’s Work.
I obviously haven’t lived long enough to know good literature.
Regards!

That's kind of you bellywoofer2...thank you.
I'd like to praise you for your efforts to gather our community in conversation. Your efforts have been noticed and appreciated. It's easy to shill and throw shade with amateur hour comedy. It's far more difficult to be a blogger that writes from the heart and with earnestness.

Heyduke,
I agree, it’s nice to see people give honest opinions on
Casual topics like movies, shows, books etc.
Just casual blogs were people can be like, “yeah that’s some
Good shit right there”. Rather then getting under people’s skins.
I might come off as naive but it is what it is!

I was 18 years old when I saw "Stand By Me". When the scene on the link came up I realized how friends are replaceable. Very sad, but very critical life lesson.
"Friends come in and out of your life like busboys in a restaurant."
='/

No love for Dolores Claiborne? The movie had a terrific cast and I think it's pretty well done. I actually think it's the rare case of a King movie version bettering the novel.
Definitely Cat’s Eye. But fuck that troll in the end 😱 he scared the shit out of me when I was younger
Ms Valeria, you're referencing a movie that was based on two short stories, The Ledge and Quiters, Inc. The movie did boast a quality cast. The Quitters, Inc story has long been a favorite of mine.
