Lmfao I love getting shitted on.
It’s like getting food thrown at you during a cafeteria food fight.

Cowles Mountain is a prominent mountain located in the San Carlos neighborhood, within the City of San Diego, San Diego County, California. The 1,593-foot summit is the highest point of the city of San Diego

The best hikes by far are in the Sierra. In SoCal you need to get out of the city and go to the mountains. Above Idylwild there are nice hiking trails. You can take the aerial tram from Palm Springs and hike back down if a Strenuous hike uphill is too much.

My. Baden Powell , Off Angeles crest Hwy. mod 3 mile hike up to summit.

Painted Canyon, just north of Salton Sea. Relatively easy hike, but very cool scenery. Somebody even put up ladders to make addional canyons accessible.

this can be a subjective subject. i get a lot of trail time in the OC area. my fav right now is Harding Truck Trail. if you know the are obviously it is one of a handful of trailheads on that said of CNF. within about a mile from the trailhead the views really open up. check it out if you have time.

Icehouse Canyon Mt. Baldy (Mt. San Antonio) you can go straight up or take the Chapman Trail at the 2 mile mark. Beautiful in the winter and spring.

LA County? Peter F. Schbarum Park in Roland Heights. It's basically a corridor of hiking trails that connect LA County to N OC...La Habra action.

One the best hikes you could ever take. Very few people take this and you should try it. Park by Harriett Wieder Park along Seapoint St. in H.B, walk down along Seapoint then cross Pacific Coast Highway. After crossing P.C.H. continuing walking west until you get tired then come back the same way. Try it.

If you have never hiked in the Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, its a must do! Many differnt options. Breathtaking views, waterfalls, and of course the giant Redwoods. My favorite place ever, full of more favorite places. Check it out! Plenty of trails for everyone!

Try the AllTrails app! Sounds like exactly what you need. All the hikes are rated easy/med/hard and users can leave reviews and pics of the trail so you know what you're signing up for beforehand. It's like Yelp for hiking.

AllTrails is great! Used it last weekend to find the Solstice Canyon hike
|

Lundy canyon in the Hoover wilderness. You enter Yosemite Nat. Park at Saddlebag lake. Sissies or whimps need not apply. Or try the lottery at Lone Pine RS to do Mt. Whitney. Apply by Jan. or Feb. Remember to acclimate 3 days in advance. Trek on.

The Skyline Trail is great, hike up the OC side or take Tram up from Palm Springs.
|
|
Locally in so cal, nothing is better than all the trails around Ice House Canyon near Mt Baldy. If you get the chance to to Kennedy Meadows (easy trails) or for harder go up to McKinley Meadows and hike all the trails around and on the PCT. Both of these are within 3-4 hours of L.A and are good for a weekend.

This is a great idea for a blog topic. There really is no information on hiking in CA anywhere.
You'd think there' would be websites and books that would focus on southern CA hikes and which ones were the best for various fitness levels.
You'd think that maybe there'd be forums of like-minded, outdoorsy types that would share info. Or for that matter, you'd think there would be a site that was a social network for athletes...I dunno you'd think they'd call it strava or something.
