Is it a Del Taco gift card? I love Del Taco. Especially for late night drunk food after a night of pissing in parking lots and stepping around vomit.

I have had as far as I can remember more ten 12 car/trucks. I have none of them except for the last three I recently purchased. I run them into the ground

I currently drive a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe I bought new. As of now it has 163000 miles on it and still runs great. Blue book now is around $1200. I change the oil every 3000 miles and do a drain and fill on the transmission every year except last year I took it to the dealer for a flush.
|
|
Of course, I can't match for now. I was born when you got your Toyota Camry. Though I can catch when you are gone.

lamar:
The service manager at the Mazda dealer suggested the "old fashioned" drain and fill, saying that for older cars the force of a flush might cause problems.

LettuceMeat I've lived in the same place since November 1998. Yes you got me beat.

one of the smartest rides i got was a 2004 Tahoe. She was a beast. only mechanical issues was 2nd gear slipped maybe 3 years after i had been driving her through the mud ($800 fix) and i bought is at 42k miles. by the time i sold it i got $4500 for it and it had almost 270k miles on it. I really miss that truck. The family that bought it i ran into and the still have it. 4 years later its pushing hard around 330k miles. Bertha was really special

I like the way you roll.

I have owned 50+ cars and trucks, most of which have been as a hobby, and currently own 6 cars and a truck.. I also have owned 20+ motorcycles, 3 currently. I have never bought any vehicle new, and with a couple exceptions, have never lost money on a hobby car. I usually put 20k+ miles per year on my vehicles as a total, so my "commuters" and trucks usually have 150k+ miles before I sell.
gr8hands, totally dig that '63 Buick, too bad you don't still have it.

73 Chevy Camaro
77 Chevy Corvette
97 Chevy Camaro SS

68 Chevy Chevelle Wagon
and my 2nd 69 Charger....waiting to be Finished
85 Honda Interceptor

I loved every single one of them and wish I still had all of them, but my bike days are over and 3 cars is more than enough right now.

This is a car forum... right?

The one car I now regret selling was my 1966 Nissan Fairlady. Back in the late 70s it had gotten almost impossible to find parts for that car. Not even the dealer could find parts.

Fair ladies parts can be hard to find

When will you gents going to roll a respectable ride?
A lot of flotsam and jetsam on this blog. Why keep a car so goddamn long? Give it to charity and buy another. Can I recommend a Lexus or Benz? If it's a Lexus, the exterior paint job is two tone, the stereo has to be Nakamichi. If it's a Benz it has to be the color of whip cream.

I feel that if a car runs good why get rid of it? My last car a 1977 GMC Sprint had 315000 miles on it and still ran good just deplorable gas mileage. I use to drive it to OKC a couple of times a year when my job paid for the gas. Also I haven't had a car note in thirteen years.

Respectfully disagree Mr Odom. I still remember that buzzer beater you hit to win the A10 tournament 15 years or so. So skilled with that soft touch. We still love ya in Jamaica Queens #7, we always will.

Allan Swifts owned the same car for 82 years.

Have owned Plymouth, Dodge, VW's (fastback, square back, beetle, camper), Fiat, Austin-Healy, Volvos (multiple), Suburbans, Toyota 4-Runner, Honda CRV, BMWs (320i, Bavaria, then 530i, then 528i),
but there is NOTHING that compares with the Benz E-Class, in performance, reliability, road competence, and enjoyment, in my auto-owning experience. On my 2nd one now. Bullet-proof. (Except for the 2006-07 years; avoid.)
And although the new sticker price is around $56,000, their depreciation curve is so steep that you can pick one up just a few years old with decades of life left in it for under $10K or a bit more for even younger. Bought a beauty last year for $5200 with only 109K miles for a relative. Looked, drove, and felt brand-new. She loves it. Easily a 250K to 300K miles capable car.

Loki, I'll put mine up against any of yours...any day

Cars, meh.
17 years without a payment.

I purchased a 1985 Dodge Arias at a tow yard for $175. Car ran for 5 years that got hit in an accident, not my fault, and I received $1200 for a replacement vehicle from the insurance company. I purchased a 1989 Ford Ranger for $600, had the truck for 6 years and it failed smog. CA purchased the gross polluter from me for $1000.

Last week I was looking for this blog but now I've forgotten what I wanted to say.

Mr EZ:
You may want to buy this, just in case.

I love cars.
Been obsessed with them since as far back as I can remember.
Had my first car before I had a license. Drove that bug to the ground and through all my siblings.
For the last 15 years I've bought nothing but Fords because even though I have had some transmission problems with a couple, they ALWAYS take care of me at the dealer. The service guys are your best friends, or they should be. They are the fucking gate keepers for your new and newish car having a long and happy life.
So yeah I could buy more car or a euro tag or some other shit but every ford I've had has been good to me and I love to drive them.

callvan:
Your allegiance to one brand is a throw-back to the 1930's. Almost every guy I met who first bought a car during that decade was either a "Chevy Man" or a "Ford Man".
My Dad was an exception. He bought a 1932 Buick in about 1935 for under $100. The other men (boys at the time of purchase) spent less than $100 to buy their used cars in the 30's.
The letter allegedly sent by Dillinger to Henry Ford praising his cars was a fake, according to handwriting analysis done by the FBI. Dillinger did leave behind a 1934 Ford at the Little Bohemia Lodge in Wisconsin, escaping from the botched raid.
