Gimme a Break!

Come back, the league is at a high point. There is the greatest player of all-time continuing to add to his amazing resume in America's heartland. There is a team in Northern CA that is among the greatest in the rich history of the league. There is a rivalry between the aforementioned team from the Midwest and the team from Northern CA that will go down as the second greatest rivalry professional basketball has ever seen.

With what rules?
If you're talking about 80s rules, yes I think you may be correct. The physicality of the old game was a different type of game. If they're playing 2017 rules, there is no way on this earth any of the listed teams could play with GST. Give me a fucking break. Bird is going to check Durant. Durant is 7'0" is arms are the size of brooms. He elevates on scores all day on Bird. You're telling me DJ, who was a nice player could check Steph Curry. DJ had a hard time containing Byron Scott.
We have a tendency to glorify the past and downgrade the present. The reality is athletics continues to advance, the players are far better today.

The greatest player of all time LMAOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When he finds his HEART then maybe

The only team that would be a match for GST is the showtime Lakers. And I'm of the opinion that with 2017 rules, the Lakers advantages would be significantly weakened. Cap would be taken out of the post. Magic's lumbering defensive posture would be exposed. Who is going to stop Durant? I'll answer that question. No one on the Lakers. It'd be a fun thing to watch.

Sancho1...when you have some time, peruse this site. All that you need is there. It's in black and white. Numbers and facts. Not memories of days past glorified to hold on to some remnant perceptions of our youths.

WastingTime, how can you say it's a one-sided rivalry? Cleveland has won one, Golden State has won two. They've played three consecutive times.
The Showtime Lakers beat the Celtics in' 85 and '87...lost in '84. We consider that the greatest rivalry in the history of the NBA. You're take makes little sense to me. Would you care to elaborate?

Yes, you're done being considered a legitimate basketball fan by me. Ignorance has no place in this blog.

The game was great in the 80s. Watching those games were my formative years of learning the game and led me to follow it in an obsessed fashion. I love all of the greats, their stats, their records...it's with this expertise and affection that inform all my opinions. I'm open to debate any topic relating to the NBA, but I need people to be earnest and informed about their ideas.

I acknowledge that GST has three HOF players in their starting five, where CLE only has the King.

Back to the unis...Mem and GS are great for the connections to their histories... Philly is the best one for combo of history and just looking clean and great...
Lakers are trash, they have to step away from the endless adulation of Kobe, like he is the only great Laker of all-time??
Clippers are worse, nice try to reach back to SD days, but just didn't get it.
Check out Utah, now that is something...

Well.... gotta say I am not a fan of the city jerseies. A couple are decent... most seem to be weak efforts. I wouldn’t buy any of them.
Chicago looks like the Clippers 😮
I would love to see a team in Seattle again.
78-81 was an amazing time in Seattle.
The wizard Gus Williams
Jack Sikma with his sweaty bangs pasted to his forehead (until he got that horrible perm)
Dennis Johnson
John Johnson
Lonnie Shelton
Paul Silas
Wally Walker
Down Town Freddie Brown off of the bench....
Great team.
Great City
Great short term rivalry with the Washington Bullets.

Kaiser those were two competitive series. 1978 was a seven gamer that saw the Bullets come back from a 2-3 deficit to win. 1979 we see the Supersonics avenge and dispatch the Bullets 4-1. Now we must acknowledge their records were far from dominant. Both teams were sub 50 win teams in '78 But any objective person will say that the '70s and 80s certainly had the better nicknames when compared to today. Bullets > Wizards; SuperSonics > Thunder
The strange disrespect that LeBron receives has always taken me for surprise. I've long said if you have a problem with James, there is something wrong with you. A person must look inward and ask why they're full of so much pettiness. He'll play in his eighth consecutive NBA Finals this spring. An accomplishment that is unparalleled by any of his peers and can only be compared to Bill Russell. When he retires he'll likely surpass Kareem as the all-time scoring leader in the history of Naismith's great game. But unlike Kareem, he'll also be in the top five all-time assists leaders as well. I'll say that when his career is complete, he'll have played in 10-12, maybe 13 Finals. Please look at the roster of the 2007 Cleveland team that he led to the Finals. Yes he lost to San Antonio in 5...please take a look at at the roster. He'll have played in two amazing rivalries, where he both had triumphs and defeats (MIA v SA; CLE v GST). I'd ask anyone to be objective. The only comparrable players to LeBron in the NBA since the 1970s...Kareem and Jordan. No one else is in the discussion.
