I was about to state the same.
And this is not verified, but, one witness did state she heard the officer yell "let me in" before shots were fired. Which could lead to the possibility that they did know each other and possibly had a relationship.
If true, and I do stress if, does the racist aspect go away, and it was just a "crime of passion?".
Either way, the cop if hosed. Probably deservedly.
