Come on! They have video of him going into the consulate. His girlfriend waiting outside never sees him again? Someone has audio of him being tortured (not sure how you get audio like that). Governments have intercepts of Saudi diplomats talking about detaining him.

Of all our recent past presidents, this one is the absolute least likely to do anything significant to confront the Saudi's...unless Congress passes a bill with measures Tramp can't ignore/countermand. He's already said our arms sales to them is the most important thing. Next to Putin, the King basically has the second most free hand with us.
So, some Saudi chauffeur will be publicly hanged in Riyadh for accidentally discharging a gun which killed the journalist and then chopping up his body and Fed-Exing the parts to the desert in Namibia. sound like case closed to me.

And if they hired the Clinton Crime Family it would have been a hit squad of three, not the 15 they brought in. My bet is that they hired Russian, North Korean, Israeli, Chinese, and Venezuelan hit squads in order to gain a little diplomatic capital from the event.

The Saudis have a horrible record on human rights. But who in that fucked up, but strategically important region in the world doesn’t?
So do we blow off one of our most important allies in the region, not to mention the billions in arms sales and associated jobs attached to those sales over this? Or do we hold our fucking nose and realize this is the real world and shit is not as nice and clean as it is presented in a college ethics class.
BTW. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Turks set this poor fuck up. They guaranteed his safety and then let him walk in to get killed, but managed to gather a shit ton of evidence to prove the Saudis killed him. Gave them a great chance to screw over the Saudis, but keep thier hands clean.

^^^Agreed, but it's not just whether he'll back a US peace plan. It's what else does he want to do "for the kingdom"...like undermine other governments? Or what if he decides getting away with killing one journalist was "easy" so getting rid of all other journalists who don't agree with the government shouldn't be a big issue. Kind of like Putin.
We don't have to nuke them, but there are more diplomatic ways to get a democratic message across to them. And certainly openly saying that their money (and arms sales) are the most important thing to us isn't very bright. You need to show them they need us as badly as we need them.

It appears that the Saudis are new at this "bumping off dissidents" game. You can tell by the time it's taking them to respond to charges. Now the Russians are pros...maybe even invented the game. They have canned responses ready to go, "we had nothing to do with this," "someone else did it," "some other government is trying to frame us," "it was a random murder in your country," "it was a random street crime" " we will interrogate the Kremlin agent you identified as the assassin" or "everyone has access to polonium 937 these days."
Saudis could use a good Penn. Ave. PR firm to punch up their defense of the kingdom.
