"Forcing those workers to finance union activity violated the First Amendment, Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. wrote for the majority. “We conclude that this arrangement violates the free speech rights of nonmembers by compelling them to subsidize private speech on matters of substantial public concern,” he wrote."

Nominating Pelosi would be a win, win, win, win (for Congress, for the President, for women, and for CA)

If you're male and white and well-off, you''re happy today.

"I'm too old for it to have any real effect on me, but ..."
Wrong Jack-off. Kennedy just announced he's retiring. That means you won't be able to get an abortion by next year.
I'll bet my whole kingdom Tramp will elect Kushner to the court. (Hey, he's no worse a nominee than half of Tramp's other administration nominees.)

Yeah, this shit is OVER.
The saddest thing is that the d-bags on this site who LUUUUUV them some Trump don't even see that he's gonna fuck them over hard, too.
I'm a wealthy, straight, white, Christian man from a military background. I'll be fine. But literally everybody else is FUCKED as of today.
And the only people cheering it are: a) self-serving dickbags from my demo, the willfully stupid, easily conned, rubes who fell for this jackass cult leader or c) the knowing liars, feverisly lining their pockets before everything collapses.
I'm looking at property in Munich. I'll be out of here before 2020.

Not sure what the OP's age has to do with grammar, but the usage of "effect" in the original post was correct. Affect is a verb, and effect is a noun. In the original post, "effect" was used correctly as a noun.

Maybe those union reps will have to do some real work instead of just endlessly whining up boogeymen.

StuntsnGunz……… I'm with you Brother,. I will be living on an island paradise in SE Asia by 2020 and watch the US hand over the World power to China. It won't hit me on my little island. The Chinese will be focusing on the US while the destructive infighting between and among the two political parties becomes terminal. Enjoy Munich, my favorite city in Germany. Raise an Augustiner prost...…………….

You be rambling nonsense. Unions are only needed to protect workers from the greed of Capitalists looking to exploit them. They have no place in public sector where they get to negotiate with politicians who don't care about public funds...it's not their money and they'll be long gone when the bills come due. They give the unions anything they want in exchange for donations paid for from dues that even non-union members are forced to pay. That is just nuts.

and that biggest con is @BD
|
|
I know all these things about you being real BD
Have you ever considered that's why I kind of ask for your opinion on things
Also I am actually a conservative
The real problem is not so much the economy its more of the debt and government spending.
That's really is what has us fucked.
Although if you killed off, the entitlement programs such as food stamps, medicaid , medicare and social security. You will find that alot of government budget problems would go bye-bye.
We have a lot of debt but America will remain a float as long as the US dollar continues to be the reserve currency of the planet.
Once that ends we will truly be screwed , unless our debt problems have been fixed before hand

The teachers unions that have been in the forefront of the labor movement will be hurt by this ruling. The winning plaintiffs were backed by organizations headed by certain wealthy industrialists whose goal is to reduce labors standard of living But perhaps the militancy of these teachers unions will activate a new form of labor movement in this country. A labor movement that will address not just economic issues but social ones as well
By the way an earlier Supreme Court had upheld unanimously unions rights to charge dues to all members They rejected the arguments that the new court upheld. It just shows how ideological this new court is . With Kennedy gone the future looks very dim. The Democrats may try to block Trumps appointment but they usually back down in final analysis anyway

How is it that Social Security and medicare are entitlement programs, so all those that paid 15% of their annual income into it don't deserve a fraction of it back?
Or are they actually "entitlement" and foodstamps are not. And don't even get started into the corporate welfare going on, those in the middle are totally screwed, pay the maximum and doll it out to those at the top and bottom.
"Entitlement" seems to be a euphemism for Welfare now?
I would be better off even at 52 now if I quit paying that 12.4% into Social Security and invested it myself, I would be getting more back then the fraction the government is going to pay me and then the remainder would be part of my estate.

As far as SCOTUS,
I get tired of my TAX dollars being paid to Public Unions who use the money to support the Democratic Party that then gives them more of my TAX dollars to keep them selfs elected. Also the Unions always seem to support bonds etc... that I happen to be opposed to primarily taxes and reduction of rights.
A conservative SCOTUS also should slow/delay the erosion of the Bill of Rights.

@Galen
RIght before Obamacare went into effect, I use to work for one of the major medical insurance carriers.
They had this massive meeting and I can tell you they were salivating at the mouth. They thought they were going to make a killing with Obamacare.
In that meeting they had a pie chart that showed where all the Federal tax dollars are spent after collected.
The military was cheap took up between 7 to 10% of the entire tax budget.
But the programs i mentioned earlier medicaid, mediacare, social security and food stamps, together took up like 65 to 70% of the entire tax revenue that was gathered.
this is one of the reasons you have the deficit. To cover anything else they had to borrow money to pay for other programs because of these programs.
And I agree with social security a lot of ppl would do a better job investing that money themselves tha what the government doe now with it. The government looted those funds and have a bunch of IOU's in there. Social security is now a ponce scheme. Where the ppl paying into it or paying for those receiving the benefits. At some point there will be more ppl taking funds out then putting in. That will be a disaster for those expecting those benefits. i am not counting on receiving them when i reach that age
