What I find most disturbing are the leftist attacks on the Constitution. The notion that the writers of the document were slave owners doesn't discount the fact that they designed the federal government to protect all citizens from tyranny with checks and balances and divisions of governmental power. The American colonists were seeking the same rights and protections as British subjects enjoyed in Great Britain. If George III had been willing to offer Parliamentary representation to the colonies instead of Martial Law, the whole world might be speaking English.
