If you want to learn it's lessons, the point of history is not to be original, but to be accurate. Unless of course you're a revisionist that is trying to make a point rather than learning vicariously. Vicarious learning has less of a downside than experiential learning. Pleasure is to be experienced. History is how one gains a true understanding of the world of human affairs. You can continue the brutish uncivilized behavior of our earliest ancestors or if you apply your mental powers you may rise above that nonsense.

You mean I just had to mention that I only minored in History at Harvey Mudd where my graduating class in Chemistry was ranked number one in the country before I got my Masters in Chemical Engineering at USC? Harvey Mudd is a college, not a University. The classes are taught by professors and not graduate students. There is no graduate school at HMC, but the school has the highest percentage of PhD alumni of any school. The entering Freshman class only had the tenth highest SAT average in the nation. I'm not going to say anything disparaging about California Universities, nor am I going to say that extremely intelligent people are known for their social skills.
