Let’s be honest. As long as the Senate is too fucking scared to use the “Nuclear Option”” neither side really controls it.
About the only thing the Senate is really good for are those pesky judicial nominations.
Also, trying to turn the mess that we call “immigration control” into a simple blue vs red argument is the mark of a simpleton. Like Fubar mentioned, for years immigration reform and border security have been talking points at election time that enough members on either side really don’t care about. A lot of Open Border Democrats like the influx of poor, benefit dependant, masses that they can give free shit to, and convince that they are supposed to hate the evil republicans. They recognize future voters when they see them. They go hand in hand with Republicans who are backed by a lot of agricultural and other industrial concerns who like the masses of cheap labor that immigration supplies.
Either way you have two different groups that pay lip service to doing the right thing, but only care about serving a small minority of thier constituents.
