Some facts, people!
The 2010 deal allowed Rosatom, the Russian nuclear energy agency, to acquire a controlling stake in Uranium One, a Canadian-based company with mining stakes in the Western United States. But the deal required multiple approvals by the U.S., beginning with the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States. The COFI has nine members, including the secretaries of the treasury, state, defense, homeland security, commerce and energy, the attorney general, and representatives from two White House offices (the United States Trade Representative and the Office of Science and Technology Policy). The committee can only approve or object to a deal like this. Clinton could have objected - as could the eight other voting members- but that objection alone wouldn’t have stopped the sale of the stake of Uranium One to Rosatom. Ultimately. the decision falls to the POTUS.
As of today, per industry reports, Uranium One has already sold some of the U.S. assets and is looking to unload more because the U.S. holdings were incidental to the Rosatom purchase of Uranium One. Rostam was far more interested in the company’s holdings in Kazakhstan, the world’s leading uranium producer.
The original 20 percent figure comes from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, one of the agencies that approved the deal in 2010. Per the NRC, as of 2010, the licenses “represent approximately 20 percent of the currently licensed uranium in-situ recovery production capacity” in the United States. But that did not mean 20 percent of U.S. uranium reserves. Given that Uranium One’s production is only 2 percent of an already small total U.S. production- not 20 percent- the overwrought claims that Clinton “gave away” 20 percent of the U.S. nuclear supply or that Russia controls that much U.S. uranium are simply ABSURD.

Benghazi is the dead horse that the GOP and Trump supporters can’t seem to stop beating. House Select Committee on Benghazi issued its final report in June 2016. And the final conclusion reached by the 800-page report: There was ZERO evidence of culpability or wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton in the 2012 attacks in Libya that left four Americans dead. The report did deliver a broad rebuke of the Defense Department, the Central Intelligence Agency and the State Department for failing to grasp the acute security risks in Benghazi, and especially for maintaining outposts there that they could not protect. The report also did not dispute that United States military forces stationed in Europe could not have reached Benghazi in time to rescue the personnel who died…which had been a central finding of the previous SEVEN inquiries. It should be noted that among the committee’s chief findings was this fact: Despite authorization from President Obama, no American military forces were deployed to Benghazi on the night of the attacks, and Marines stationed in Spain repeatedly received conflicting orders.
The incident in Benghazi was tragic, as it is with ANY terrorist action. But the Benghazi hearings were nothing more than political theater designed to tarnish the Administration at the time and ultimately undermine Clinton’s run at the White House (admitted publicly by Senate Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy); the latter was successful, but not as much as planned…hence the intense scrutiny of the hack of the DNC and Clinton’s email.
No malfeasance. No wrongdoing.
Put that horse out of its misery. It’s dead.
