12 months ago you were a reachable target and Japan had shit flying all over - that is not happening. Hyperbole and policy are different.

We have kissed too many butts along the way. Time for NATO nations to stand on their own feet, pay their fair share. We can't be the savior of every struggling nation in the world. There are nearly 200 countries in the world, and probably half of those are struggling. We don't have the resources to bail everyone out. Look at our own homeless problem. Liberals want free health care, free college tuition....we can't pay for that let along 'nation build' around the globe.
We will still have a striking force minutes from Syria in the Middle East. Iran is our bigger problem in that region.
Putin doesn't want to get in an arms race with us. His economy is already hanging by a thread. Their VAT was increased and the consumer spending is falling. Oil prices are killing them and their energy sector is struggling. Decrease around the world for Russian products will further weaken their economy.

We have supported our allies for several decades now. They have been able to spend their money on infrastructure, social programs, etc., while we have spent on military to protect their asses. They need to put up or live with the consequences.
