Regardless of how many alleged details in this incident are accurate, the MAGA slogan and apparel are successfully being re-branded as bigoted and violent. Trump has done nothing to stop this re-branding, going all the way back to his description of violent neo-nazis as very fine people. All he has to do is make one simple statement denouncing these acts, but he chooses not to.
It's almost unfair to his more moderate supporters in the same way that acts of terrorism are unfair to Muslims. Soon, anybody wearing a MAGA hat will be viewed by the vast majority of Americans as a bigot, no different than a person waving a confederate flag or wearing a white hood. So it certainly is curious that Trump chooses to let this play out regardless of how it affects his supporters.

I'm Black, originally from Chicago, know the city like the back of my hand, and I hate trump. I can almost assure you that it DID NOT HAPPEN LIKE HE SAID.. It makes no sense. The street he said it happened on is basically underground. I would not walk down there by myself after dark, much less at 2am. The sandwich shop is above ground, and 2 blocks away. No reason in the world to be on LOWER Water street. Nothing is there. So, he got attacked, poured bleach on, beat up, noose around his neck and they left and he walked home with the noose (described as a thin rope by police) still around his neck and kept it on until the police got there? GTFOH.
PLUS! Has anyone looked at the weather? It was about 0 degrees.
