Obviously he has some serious mental problems. A psychiatrist examination should be preformed to determine if he should be jailed or committed.
I've never watched an episode of Empire or heard of Smollett before this. He's not the first person to be written our of a TV show. I wonder what he's thinking about his plan now. He has screwed himself for life because I don't think he will ever get another acting job after prison but as Fubar says I could be wrong.

Jussie did his own brother dirty a few years ago. He used the name of his own brother in an attempt to avoid a DUI charge back in the day.
He is from a privileged background. Jussie is a spoiled, self-absorbed brat. He deserves far worse for exploiting a struggle many Americans go through for personal gain. Chicago law enforcement have better things to do than investigate false reports.
I hope the actions of this idiot does not diminish the fact that hate crimes are very real in this country.

Actually he could get up to 48 years if convicted on all counts and the judge makes sentence consecutive
