Project 28 Airplane maker Boeing was contracted to build a "virtual fence" by all accounts it was a complete failure...estimates range from 430 mill to 1 billion wasted.

Dems already cost us double the price....I assume we are looking moar at an Israel type tech fence.
No shutdown and save 3 Billion......that is what should have happened. But Trump wants credit for it. And Dems want credit for it not happening - well until 2021.
Build a tech fence - employ a shit load of Americans to do it - including using our Army Engineers (sorry about that New Orleans) Let the Dreamers stay and start at zero with real laws with real consequence.

@Summerlover all Trump is doing is keeping a campaign promise of building the wall(something most politicians do not do by the way)
the only reason the virtual wall is even brought up is because of the democrats. It's funny how silicon valley is the one pushing this on the democratic party because well all those tech companies are major donors to the Dem's. They would stand to make billions if a virtual fence was actually made.
The sad thing thou is a virtual fence is not real and it will not work

There are undoubtedly some places where a wall makes sense, many places not so much. Prior to the last election, even the GOP-controlled Congress did not agree with Trump's version of how to secure the border.
Besides Mexico was supposed to pay for it, remember? I remember the first time I heard Trump say that on my TV. I bust a gut laughing!
But I am more interested in ...
Why are we lowering the number of immigrants we allow to come legally? The answer I always used to give on the whole immigration thing was "make them come legally'. Now I find out the numbers we allow legally are down.
Considering we have a Boomer generation going to need support and a declining birth rate in the US doesn't it make sense to allow more immigrants to work and pay taxes, at least guest workers?
