Of course, with any survey you need to look deeper....I don't know if you actually looked at the components....
California 14th overall among all states.
Career - 22nd - liking what you do each day and motivated to achieve results
Social - 10....having a supportive relationship and love in your life
Financial - 27th managing your economic life to reduce stress and increase security
Community - 39th - liking where you live, feeling safe and having pride in your community...
Physical - 9th - good health and energy
So California rated really well on social and physical.
But look at that community rating.
And for being the largest economy in the US and the 5th largest economy in the WORLD, having a 27 ranking in financial and 22 in career is pretty weak.

Look up Yang 2020. Shaking my head in disgust

Yang is crazy. We have 250 million adults in this country. He wants to give them all $12,000 a year. That is $3 trillion a year forever. Where does this pencil head think we get another $3 trillion....
WAKE the FUCK UP. Socialism cannot work in a country as large as ours. Hasn't before and won't ever.
And Trump gives tax breaks to the filthy rich...GTFO with bullshit.
I know a middle classs co-worker who is paying close to 3k in taxes this year when he never had to that much under any other administration. He's been in the business for over 20 years.
Jazz, more people in CA like living in this state more than people living in most other states liked living in their state. You can slice and dice numbers any way you want, but that's what this survey concluded (using their methodology).
I know, you probably don't like their methodology.
It's the weather.
Guess I'll have to learn Spanish and stay put.
Tee. You are not really looking at these numbers. For the amazing weather we have and the unbelievable economy there are 13 states where people like their state more. Due to our high taxes the financial component is 29th and liking where you live and feeling safe is 39th. This state used to be the most desirable and we are slowly dropping. If we had bad weather, we would probably be below the midpoint.
But we don't have bad weather and most of the people seem to like it here. I'm looking at all the numbers together (the conclusion of the survey). Why you only cherry picking numbers??? Hey, if you're unhappy, have fun in Indiana.
California, I hate the traffic and most of the politicians. I am too damn old to pick up and move. I got maybe another ten years to live if I'm lucky Besides I can't think of another state that I want to live in. I've got a few great neighbors/friends that makes it worth living here.
We have good health and are socially happy. Those two numbers drive the result. The other 3 numbers are average or worse. Can’t wait to see these numbers 10 years from now.

I am certainly NOT what you would call a conservative but I am strongly considering leaving California when I retire in about 5 years.
The cost of living here is way to high for the very moderate income I expect in my retirement. Since my retirement income will be the same no matter where I live, I need to find a place my dollar will stretch more.
Housing is very expensive here.
And every time you turn around the tax-crazy folks in Sacramento are coming up with a new scheme to tax people. They don't even try to come up with anything more creative anymore, The Dems have been in power too long here and sad to say they have gotten lazy and out of touch with any citizens who are not their ultra-liberal urban base. LA and San Francisco drive everything now.
They need to focus less on plastic straws and bags and how many locks you have to put on your own legally-purchased gun and focus more on economic opportunity!
Also, if I move to NV or AZ maybe I'll be able to buy ammunition for my AR-15 without being treated like a criminal or a nut job.
I'm 10x happier since moving to Las Vegas, your house note being less than half of what it was in Southern Cali for a place twice as big will do that to you. HX is really slow here, kinda sucks but that has saved me a shitload of money too! I do miss the beach though.

The red neck states being the unhappiness is no surprise. Why they are susceptible to someone like Trump to come blame their problems on darker people and promise them a more prosperous time.
So what I’m taking away from this is there are 13 other states that are better than California, that I should be looking at for when I finally pull the plug on this place.
The majority of my friends and have coworkers have left the state when they retired or when they weren’t anchored here by family. EVERY ONE of them is happier.
This isn’t a red state/blue state thing either. They’ve scattered to red, blue, and purple states and all are happier.

Lamar, can I have your FX now...you know, just in case.
Jazz, I agree that it would be interesting to see the trend in this survey over time.
Tee, California was #13 in 2016, so a slight decline.
Don't worry tee I am making a note in my will that you get a percent of my 500 FX points.
"a percent"???
Surely I'm worth at least 2%. And why aren't you supporting HX like them rich people supporting USC, Stanford, Yale, etc. Surely HX is more important to you than some rich person's kids. Buy FX.
Everyone is always thinking about leaving but no one leaves 😂 California it's self functions as two states. If
you separate the coastal counties from inland this chart would be different.
I'm sure all of those scores will increase as more and more migtate north.
That nothing in life's for free is BS. The college admissions scandal should have taught you that if you didn't know by now
Actually, the state has had a pretty steady stream of people moving out for the last several years. More leaving then coming in. The population growth is primarily from the birthrate, not increased people moving into the state.
Oh, they're moving in alright, just from other countries not other states.
I, for one, have always had a love/hate thing with California. It kills me how much I miss Boston, but this state is also my home now, so I'll try to love it until I leave it.

"Fact is that most white people really don't give a flying fuck"
Fair and balanced since Jan. 1. However, there are a few in every city who have thousands and maybe tens of thousands of rounds of ammo...

Need to be ready at any time.
Lock n Load....
That too.

Striking distance is normally 5,500 kilometers. Ask Putin.
"...anyone within striking distance of retirement that hasn’t secured a paid off spot to call their own."
So, is Fubar in his mother's basement a yes or a no??? Is Fubar in the doghouse out back a yes or a no? (Retirement planning is SOOOO hard!)
burnsie1169, how about someone who does has "secured a paid off spot to call their own" that they brought in 1990 for 220k that is now worth 1 million and realized they could sell it, move elsewhere and buy a newer, bigger place for damn near what they originally paid for their property. Who wouldn't want an almost 1 million dollar bonus when retiring? That's a great reason to consider moving.

Keep all your Cali shit and become a resident of one of them nice Taxation states
Covers much of your Cali expenses not being a resident...…..don't forget to Incorporate and shit too.
I visit less and less and pretty much for sports and beach. Much better places in Winter and many awesome Summer climates, with less people and more nature.
Carry on.
^^^So how about leaving HX too...just suggesting, not trying to be abusive
well, you are being abusive, me thinks you should donate all your points and jump into a hot wok
or is that asking too much ?
Waaaaay tooooo much. I'm not suicidal so I'm not giving up my FX.
ok then, how about we race, my riding turbocharged lawnmower vs you on the fwy of your choice

Thanks moderator for deleting my comment, whatever it was. I am sure your liberal ass didn't like it. So I made my point.
I guess you can't say the "M" word either, didn't know that. Thanks for the heads up. So:
To the director, person in charge etc., what ever I said pissed your liberal ass off. So for that I am grateful.
