If I meet a plain looking girl in person and she is really cool, she will become more attractive to me as we continue to talk. Drink a beer or two and she becomes even more attractive. That cant happen over the internet. Maybe if everyone drank a few beers before browsing profiles, they could get their beer goggles on and make more matches.

In my personal experience that's pretty accurate. I'm not photogenic and find it impossible to match with someone (doesn't matter their look). In this aspect I can only guess that girls prefer to give a chance to good looking guys. However, when I go out, I had situations where girls show interest on me, but it's funny that I wouldn't stand a chance on the internet with these same girls.
