The exploitation of Latino labor is a foundation of the wealth of the Southwest, both legal and illegal. This country was founded with the dominant ideology of white supremacy. The original great wealth of the United States was from the backs of slaves and the land needed for all forms of exploitation was stolen from the Indians. At first the idea was floated that we were trying to make Christians out of them. But that rationale never held for obvious reasons. So white supremacy became the justification. Perhaps the philosophy behind it is the fear of the other. One of the main reasons for white supremacy is the need to prevent the unity of people. It is this unity that is needed to move forward. Trump is the master of this. Much of His base has more in common with migrants and asylum seekers than they do with a man with a golden toilet.

Since we knew these asylum seekers were coming we should have put more manpower at the points of entry in order to process their requests for asylum The US should have worked with Mexico to provide shelter or detention camps on both sides of the border during this processing. Since they have a legal right under US and International law to ask for asylum this should have been done. Instead Trump rants about an invasion and sends the military.
If we were in the asylum seekers shoes we might well have done the same thing. Now we are tear gassing children and people are cheering.

Mexican police used tear gas on Mexican side. US used tear gas at the fence when migrants tried to rush the chain link part of the border fence.
This is a catastrophe for Tijuana/Mexico because they have to feed and shelter thousands of people. This is going to drive Mexico to crack down on future caravans.

Trump got this one right. Mexico did little to nothing when the caravan entered their Southern border. Now TJ is feeling the pain of caring for these people. So, clearly, Mexico wants these people out. Now Hollywood elites are crying that we aren't compassionate.

I use to work for one of the major insurance carriers and they called everyone in the company for a special meeting to prepare us for The Affordable Care act(Obama Care) and they had a pie chart broken down on how US tax dollars are spent. Military was only 10% of the budget, but medicaid/medicare and social security alone accounted for about 60% of total tax dollars spent
Add another 15% for all the other entitlement programs and the US tax budget is literally 75% entitlement programs. another 15% goes towards everything else.
