I didn't agree with his politics but he was a good man. I went to see him speak here in LA while his son was President. A middle Eastern man stood up in the middle of his speech and started yelling things at him. Security rushed to the man to take him out. President Bush said "No let him speak". Bush didn't agree with the man but he let him speak and heard him out.
He actually lived a full live since young Lt George Bush wash shot down in shark infested waters off Chichijiman and rescued by the USS Finback submarine...
Joined the Navy at 18. Flew 58 combat missions against the Japanese. 126 carrier landings (that alone is remarkable). He came from a wealthy family and could have gone to Yale and essentially skipped the war but he loved his country and signed up to fight instead. Rest in peace after a heck of a life Sir. Sincerely, thanks for your service.
And yes you're right @teeitup.... His ability to control the grab-asstic center in his brain started to falter as he aged. But if I was a woman I would be proud as hell to let a slightly addled American hero like 41 cop an innocent feel.
I didn't realize until I heard it on TV there was one other father and son President duo. John Adams 2nd President and John Quincy Adams 6th President.
I truly though the George W. Bush the son was the most unqualified and dumbest man to become President until Trump came along. Other than getting us in two wars and almost having a financial meltdown I guess he wasn't as bad as having a lying about everything, womanizing, Putin loving, ever tweeting, unqualified, racist as president.
RIP... An honorable man who was gracious, was curious to learn what he did not know, made a politically unpopular choice for the good of the country and resisted bragging when healing was required. All qualities worthy of admiration.
