SpaceX rocket with 64 satellites launched from Vandenberg

WTF? Are we putting tennis balls into space now?

How do you get 64 satellites into a rocket? Hate to think what it would have cost insurance companies if the rocket went BOOM or "missed by that much."

Just put a blow-up doll in the rocket's cargo bay. Would be a loooooot cheaper.

According to different news sources it sounds like SpaceX assumed a risk level as low compared to missing a launch window? 40 sats compared to the 12,000 and the desire to add 30,000 seems like a teeny, tiny loss

Mind boggling stuff for me considering the satellites aren't cube satellites but more along the size of a table (from what I've read). Also considering I'm used to thinking of satellites as the size of a car or a bus so my brain is toast.

Keeping forgetting space is uhhh big even with all the crap floating around our planet.

I'm still waiting for the space hotel. Not keen on staying in a giant blowup doll but hey...space hotel!

Right now, there are more than 300,000 pieces of debris larger than a centimeter in diameter orbiting Earth.

Together, the Department of Defense and NASA track the orbits of the 19,000 or so pieces of junk that are larger than a softball, alerting satellite operators when any satellite — including the International Space Station — is in danger, so they can move it.

Yep, that's why I'm not keen on a inflatable space hotel. Snoozing away up until your room goes zooming into a new orbit because of space debris.
