More before posting his tweets. I need to think more before posting here. the economy is much stronger than it has been in years. He gave a bit too much in tax breaks to the corporations that employ millions of Americans . He should have given the average Joe a bit more of those breaks.

Hitler made it easy for the common German to ferment their hate and apply economic, psychological and physical harm to weak minorities, creating a false "them vs. US" dynamic. That intolerance escalated until they had their camps that they used to move the unwanted, and from there the slaughter houses of actual fellow human beings.
I know most of you do not read German, but as someone who actually does the current Trump cabinet propaganda reads A LOT like the propaganda used by Adolph before he centralized power into the Nazi party (but with the braggadocio of Mussillini). It took *years* for the hate to escalate to that degree, but it started somewhere. Trump fans it. He welcomes it. That cult of personality is reading exactly the current ultra-conservative stances on social issues. Leave the "minority" that is causing national distress blank and the similarities are striking.
History is repeating itself, and not in a good way. And the Germans at the time did not think of themselves as the villains, merely people who demanded what was "lost".

There are some interesting comments and points of view.
I describe myself as a fiscal conservative and a social liberal.
So far things haven't been going to my liking, with the increase in spending, increase in national debt, and feeling that civil liberties are being rolled back.

Fiscal conservative - government should not spend money we don't have.
Social liberal - everyone should be equal in the eyes of the law. One of Government's main function is to provide a level playing field for all without discrimination. Another function of government is to provide infrastructure that benefits all of society and not a select few.
Social liberal doesn't mean free hand outs or a persistent welfare state.
Social liberals believe in civil liberties and not free handouts.
