Castle Versailles in the country. Home of Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI. As well as the Louvre, of course!
|

Thank you going to get on google and look those up!

make sure you get a royale with cheese.

Versaille does a beheading every weekend for the tourists...not seriously
And look up where the riots won't be each weekend in the city center...seriously

D'Orsay museum. I liked it better than the Louvre.

Check out the original Luis Vuitton and Chanel stores.
The Arc de Triumph. Notre Dame is still a fun area despite the fire, The Catacombs, sidewalk cafes are fun, the Rodin Museum.

After you get through passport control take your bags over to the taxi area. When you get in the cab tell the cabbie "Fubar m'a envoyé. Je veux avoir ta bite." (You need to say it in French because the cabbies in Paris do not speak English). I'm sure the cabbie will be able to make sure you see the sights.

I just got back a week ago.
Seine River cruise like 15 euro
Norte Dame just reopened
The Louvre museum if you’re into art etc. if not, take a few selfies there 😆
I also took a train to Amsterdam from Paris.

People there are for the most part rude and not at all welcoming to Americans. The food however is magnifcent.
Go to Montreal for half the price have much of the same food and we are much kinder than the french.

Shakespeare & Company bookstore. Funky little store just off the Pont des Coeurs as you cross to the Rive Gauche from the Ile de la Cite and Notre Dame. Legendary place, look it up. There is a cafe next to it, Le Petit, that has seats on the quay overlooking the river and offers some of the best people watching in all of Paris.

Paris is one of my favorite cities.
The best things to do depend on how long you are staying.
I have several restaurant recommendations if you are interested.
A few things:
If you like art get the City Pass, it gets you into most museum's and you don't have to wait in line for tickets.
Visit L'orangerie first thing in the morning, its not busy, and small and pretty awesome (it takes less than one hour to visit).
Other "must see museums"
Louvre - you could spend days there, but 1/2 a day is enough to see the main sights
D'Orsay - awesome museum, can definitely spend a day there
Cluny - this is a good quick run through museum, but highly recommended (2 hours)
Rodin - 1-3 hours here should be sufficient
Other things to do
Visit the Eiffel Tower (of course)
Seine River cruise
Palace of Versailles (this is a full day excursion, be sure to wander the gardens, visit some of the buildings away from the main palace)
Take a walk on the Seine river - there is a walkway next to the river
Visit Sainte-Chapelle - awesome stained glass, this too can be a quick 2 hours out of your day
Visit Sacre-Coeur - awesome views of the city
I'm sure I'm missing things
You can spend a week in Paris and still not see everything you "should"
PM me a number and I can text you some specifics if you need them.

Parisians do not hate America, just really gauche Americans they often encounter. (Fortunately, most of that venom these days is directed at the rich Ugly Russians.) Paris has more locations that have a positive connection to the US than any other city in Europe. My favorite on the list below is the Treaty of Paris plaque. While I was still in school, I stayed for a month in a garret apartment on the top floor of the Hotel du Danube Saint Germain.

Don’t forget about the vast catacombs/underground city under Central Paris. You will find historic places, one off party events and elements of danger under the City of Lights.
Those vast underground spaces in the Phantom of the Opera movie? They are there (just not as cinematic).
Go with a guide that knows the city.
Unless you are prepared, try to stay out of the Muslim parts of town. Not that I am racists, but it does feel more like you are in northern African than fairy tale “gay” Pareee.
Beware that every alley is different. Some of the best food in the world is here, and you can smell it. But you can also smell the centuries of rot in other places.

^^^ This.
Don't ruin your trip by rushing from attraction to attraction. My most enjoyable times in Paris involved picking a neighborhood and just wandering.
For a high-end experience, I'd strongly suggest dinner at L'Espadon - the flagship restaurant of the Ritz Hotel. It's best if you find someone else to pay, as that meal will be PRICEY!

Omg thank you everyone! I’m staying at the Sofitel next to the Eiffel Tower and got the suite with the view... and I really appreciate everyone’s feedback now I have tons of places on my list to see I hope I can fit it all in a week!
|
|
@Marble... price doesn’t matter lol I’m not paying for anything 😇
|
|
Just went last month. Disneyland Paris is great ❤
|

Besides all that has been said, try to slow down and just hang out and people watch with a glass of wine. Late afternoon, people gather by the Seine riverbank to picnic. Really enjoyed that. Try to stick to the “nice” parts of Paris, you’re not missing anything in the dumpy areas.
Last time I stayed near the Opera area. Enjoyed that more than near the major landmarks. Champs Elysees was boring, unless you like to travel 5,600 miles just to go shopping.

we cancelled a normandy trip the last time there....wish we would not have

The French stink

So you have a lot of places to visit. Frankly I don't care for Paris but the rest of France is beautiful if you have time to get out of the city. Also, if you have an aversion to smoke you may have a problem. Everyone smokes there and even outside you cant get away from it. Just be aware. After a day in paris it is like i have a cold. Enjoy your trip, just cause I don't like it doesn't mean you are not gonna have a wonderful time. Share with us when you get back.

|
Oh yeah, as far as the stereotype goes. Only Paris hates it if you don't speak French the rest of the country doesn't care in my experience.
|
|
yep...pic would be good

On second thought, OP avoid Paris - one of the most beautiful cities in the world - and go wherever Crane_Op suggests.
There are sure to be a profusion of all you can eat buffets, elderly people in elastic waist pants and MAGA hats.

|
saw the hottest looking black chick ever seen(and overall) on the subway in paris...bummed we had to get off the damn thing...that stuff kinda makes your day
|
|
they do seem a little nicer to the women in the party
|
|
Catch a Women's World Cup match.
|
|
If you like water sports take the time to visit Perris Lake . If you want a staple of France ,try the French Fries at Farmer Boys / Alessandro Rd on the south side of the lake.

Best thing is to figure out is what your interests are in seeing in the City of Light. Go to Barnes and Noble and purchase a DK Eyewitness Travel Guide. They come with descriptions and beautiful color photos of all the main attractions. Find out what excites you. A Paris city guide is about $25, money well spent. Lists of restaurants in each neighborhood, guide is color coded. Find this guide book in the international travel section. Enjoy and have a safe trip.
