I'd offer to help... but since I'm just seeing this now and I really need to be at work in 6 hours, and am down in Orange County - not sure I'm really in a position to do so.
Still, hope the OP has found someone willing to lend her a hand. Being caught out without a home to go to (even if only temporarily or because hung out to dry while traveling) really sucks.

Doesn't matter if she's made poor choices. Maybe she has, but maybe she hasn't. Either way, help her or don't, but there's no need to kick her while she's down. I'm willing to bet everyone who's posted here has needed a helping hand at one point or another.
