Well...........
Oh wait Who?
I truly enjoy his outlook on life.
The SJW's can't even define Toxic Masculinity.
I'm watching a YT series right now about one of his books, chapter by chapter.
It's kind of making my head explode. And it's really making me wonder how such an obviously intelligent person can make such unreasonable conclusions
Like.... people don't actually buy into this stuff. Right?
As I said, I enjoy his outlook very much. From my point of view, he makes perfect sense.
The people that buy his stuff, Can and do think for them selves.
Tell me one of his assertions and I'll tell you if I agree.
He refuses to use PC gender pronouns
Um... yeah... they sure can. Didn't say they couldn't lol
From what I've seen so far, his writing is just a repackaging of religious mythicism blended with Jungian archetypes and enough vague language to allow him to back out of any statements he makes.
Oh and that somehow women are responsible for men's feelings, self loathing and insecurities. That's the one I really can't wrap my head around.
(Don't get me wrong here, I'm not saying that women can't be purposefully hurtful toward men, because obviously they can be. I'm referring to his whole diatribe about original sin and that's a whole huge mess to get into)
And any helix represented in ancient art is a secret nod to DNA because.... reasons

There are only 2 "TWO" genders.
I agree women are at fault for all mens failings. What's another one?
Crick and Watson would not be pleased.
it's not women in general that are the issue. It's Feminism.
Feminism?
Like 3rd wavers and TERFs? Bc it seems like TERFs might actually agree with a lot of what he says.
Or like all feminism? Bc that's wasn't what I was really getting from the material I saw, which specifically in this case was from his "12 rules" book. I know you might be referring to his other content.
mostly the 3 rd wave.
That's wasn't?
Ugh its not even a Monday and I'm fucking up the English language...
i did buy his book. However I have 2 other books to read before I get to it. I'll let you know later.
I'll agree that 3rd wavers and other feminism outliers are pretty toxic, but they're a small minority and I can't really wrap my head around the idea that they'd be responsible for the low self esteem of an entire gender.
We can have a whole conversation about how expectations for men are skewed unreasonably by media and entertainment, and I believe that has a significant influence on how men see themselves, but that's also the case for women, and I don't think 3rd wave feminists are responsible for media and entertainment tropes. That's the same argument that Anita Sarkeesian is making about how women are portrayed in video games. It just doesn't hold water.

TYT is biased, lie-by-omission trash
@longwalker I'd actually be interested to know what you think about his book when you finish it. I may not agree with you, but I'm not trolling and I'm genuinely trying to understand this POV. No disrespect here.
I don't really except that men on the whole are suffering from low self esteem. It is only a small percentage that do. I.E. week mind, low self esteem to begin with.
Please don't forget, the ME 2 movement. That has had a major impact on men in general. And the corporate world in particular.

Fubar====Correct again.

Alphas run this sh*t. Sit down and make daddy a sandwhich.

An "alpha" is the most ludicrous concept I've ever heard lol, and the guys I've seen described as "alpha males" are the ones that I would perceive as trying to over-act to cover up their insecurity, and they turn into bullies and jerks in the process. I'm generalizing here, but most women aren't attracted to bullies, most women are attracted to confidence and charm. IMO a lot of the problem comes in when people confuse the idea of "confidence" with bullying, pushiness, etc, and they confuse "charm" with pickup lines.
I agree that the "metoo" thing drastically changed corporate culture, and the way men feel (or don't feel) comfortable around women. Walking on eggshells is not a good way to be, and I don't think we're better off for it as a whole.

I would consider you an Alpha Bitch

Carl Jung does not approve this

I saw Canadian Clinical Psychologist and I decided I would not waste my time.

I like you Delaine...despite the bad press.
One article below for the Alpha "Science" theory (bullshit) supporters.
And an easily consumed video for the knuckle-draggers.

Problem with most of this is, people aren't nearly skeptical enough about the things they read, or hear, or watch.
Great doubt and great faith are both necessary. Evolutionary biology may play its role but we are not slaves to it. We do have choices and we do have decisions to make every day. That being said we do slip up because we are human. That is why we need to have a level of compassion.
We have to be responsible for our actions. Too often we project our shortcomings onto others and blame them for our woes.
Politically we project onto Muslims, minorities, immigrants or whatever is the target du jour.

I haven't heard all of his thoughts on different subjects but I do like a lot of what I have heard from him.
can you link the yt vid you're watching?

I find long-form JP quite cogent. Since he speaks complex thoughts beware the five minute excerpts
He says competence hierarchies are part of nature and over time hierarchies can become corrupt..
Watch his 50 minute discussion on creativity at the National Gallery of Canada. That's as good as it gets.
I heard him on the Joe Rogan Podcast a few times and I liked what I heard.
I'm halfway done with his book. I've watched numerous videos and I like his points.. but it's too controversial for me to elaborate on here.
