I think it's a prequel that shows how Johnny Soprano and Uncle Junior ran Jersey back in the day, when Tony was just a boy. It will explain a lot about how and why Tony was the way he was -- a loving dad, a cheating husband who still loved his wife, troubled to the point of mental illness, and a shrewd business man, and cold, heartless killer.
I look forward to it! I wonder who gets to play little Paulie Walnuts???
