I just finished The burning room by Micheal Connelly and am looking for another great read...
I normally into historical fiction but I love the California connection with Micheal Connelly so I'm partial to his work.

I will check him out. If you have a library card (in SD for sure. I'd assume other counties also) you can get access to a bunch of books for free on your phone or tablet. I prefer hard copies but its great for when I dont have time to get into a library.

He is more detective fiction. I also prefer hard copies which I get at the Central Library in DTLA.

Any previous reads you recommend?

I havent disliked anything by Micheal Connolly yet. I just read The burning room in like 4 days, it's a genre that I am new to so I will definitely check out your reccomendation. Micheal goes back and forth between detective fiction and prosecutorial fiction, both are great. Any specific title you reccomend?

In my experience, it's usually Col. Mustard in the library with a candle stick. Sorry for the spoiler.

If you like highbrow British murder mysteries PD James with her inspector Dagliesh is very good. James Ellroy ,The Black Dahlia, and other works is hard boiled noir type. Walter Mosley writes some good murder stories with a mid 50s , South Central LA venue.

That is very intriguing, I will definitely check it out. Adding some historical fiction to the mystery makes me feel a little better about reading nonsense. I read for the getaway but learning a thing or two always make me feel better.

The Name of the Rose by Eco is one of the classic historical murder mysteries. Set in a 1300s Monastery I believe

If you like historical fiction, you could try Jeff Shaara. He has books on Civil War, Mexican War, Korea (one of his best IMO), WW II. They are all worth a read. He got started after his father wrote The Killer Angels (about Gettysburg), which became a huge hit miniseries, then promptly died. Jeff picked up his fathers research and has been a prolific writer ever since.
