I'll never forget when the usual flock of ravens, magpies and crows that roost in my Valencia orange and sycamore trees all died out from West Nile Virus. Suddenly it was eerily silent where the sound of birds happily chirping, cawing, and chuffing to themselves previously lit the soundscape.
They were absent for multiple years. And then last year they were back. I used to frown at their droppings, but I prefer a happy, healthy bird (and bee!) population to that eerie silence borne of disease and catastrophe.

I pour bleach in my fountain and every two or three days I look for standing water. Those little fuckers eat my ass up every time I'm in my back yard. Maybe it's all the plants.

Buy Mosquito Dunks at the hardware store. Toss them into standing water. Kills the little buggers.

It's the Brown Recluse that scares the shit out me in the back county, that plus hantivirius.
