Mercury insurance company fined 27 million dollars.

Tue, 05/07/2019 - 13:57 / Appellate Court Holds Mercury Insurance Accountable for Phony Premium Overcharges.

"After over a decade of battling against Mercury's aggressive litigation tactics seeking to evade accountability for its deceitful 'broker fee' overcharges, today justice has finally prevailed and the $27 million civil penalty Mercury must pay the state should send a strong message to Mercury and other insurers that they can't get around the law," said Pam Pressley, senior attorney at Consumer Watchdog.

Why is California keeping the 27 million dollars instead of returning it to the consumer? I've been with Mercury for 30 years, I want my money back.

Because you did not Opt out of Arbitration like the Uber drivers did. J/k.

And since the judge Approved the Fairness in yesterdays 20 mil settlement hearing. I could be looking at as much as 11k settlement check. So please don't pm me all at once.

An now Uber/Lyft whinning about AB5's passage in the Senate today as well, which effectively could double the riders fares.

Oh and Uber is pulling out of ONT airport Sept 13th. Happens to be on a Friday too

Where the Hell is that LMAO smiley.

27 Million is nothing for these insurance companies. They need to fine them a lot more.

Isn't it amazing....we have the highest rate of homelessness, spend more on welfare, have the highest state debt and our politicians feel we can just spend more by providing health care and other benefits to illegal aliens.....

I lost hope in our government system many years ago. None of them care about people of this country. They are all full of their own crap and ego. That $27 Million dollar will be all wasted.

When are these fucking idiot politicians (FIPs) going to pull their heads outta their asses and go after the most corrupt criminals???
I am not saying that the insurance industry is not being run by a bunch of criminal thieves ... but if the FIPs are gonna go and stop the thieves who have their hands in all of our wallets & purses, why not start at the top?? Why not go after the most corrupt thieves pulling out more $$'s than any of the others (the FIPs excluding themselves of course)?? And which industry do I think is being run by the most corrupt thieves?? The Pharmaceutical industry (aka Big Pharma) ... (although this is just my opinion, my opinions are facts --- other than stock choices :-( )
But do you think maybe the FIPs believe that the people running the pharmaceutical industry are totally honest and have our best interests in mind???
Or do you think that the pharmaceutical industry execs are paying off our FIPs with much larger bribes than those offered by the insurance industry execs??

I just received my renewal from Mercury, it's up $84 dollars for two cars. One car with full coverage and the other with liability only.

I'm going to shop around and get some price quote before I renew.

I called and complained so they dropped my rate $80 for my six month billing period. I'm afraid to think what it will be next time.
