Vegas to Victorville is feasible.
Jerry Brown's train from the the Central Valley to LA is not.
|
|
I would 100% take the train instead of driving or flying.
|
|
why start/ stop in victorville.. i think bringing it all the way to LA would be the best.
I left the westside of LA, last friday at 330pm, I didnt get up there until 10pm.. Yikes

I'm 100% with ColossusJones, that's the best use of high speed rail. Especially, when the Raiders start playing in Las Vegas...

+1 for the train
|
|
for me it would be like
60 min to drive to victorville
10 to park and get to the train platform
10 to wait for the train
75 min for the train to get to vegas
15 min to get off and get into an uber
15 min to get to the strip
thats 3 hrs and 5 min, vs about 4 hrs of driving
granted thats assuming no traffic. but considering the cost, hassle, and leaving my car in some random lot for days, the train option doesnt look that good

Move to Victorville

He'd have to change his handle to vvchineseguy.

It will never happen. When the tracks hit the Cal-Nev border, Nevada would never let the Cal idiots build a model train set in their state !
|

The Victorville to Vegas train isn’t going to happen without a big political battle. California Indian gaming tribes aren’t going to let their gaming revenue leave the state without a fight.
I’m guessing, Kroenke and the Rams won’t be to happy about it either.
But, I would use the train if it gets built.

LACG neglected the Louber to Victorville option for mearly a handy!
|
|
That's the American dream right there! Freedom to try almost any hair brained sceme you can think of!
|
|
Wait, you're telling me that I have to drive to Victorville, and then leave my car there?
Fuck that!

Based upon the article it doesn't seem like this project will involve taxpayer dollars. If this company can get the necessary permits and raise the money to construct this project then let them knock themselves out.
I imagine the company has probably done a better job of calculating the revenues and expenses than our state politicians did with the train to nowhere.

Baker will become a ghost town.

How about paving 3 lanes north and south and blowing up the "check point" just south of Primm.? Funny how Cal Trans moved it to cause major back ups leaving Vegas. Think some politicians will be getting major kick backs from the "high speed rail". it is HOV lanes on steroids.

Private enterprise. Seems this company did something similar in Florida. Commute times to and from Vegas on weekends are ridiculous. From Rancho Cucamonga to Vegas a few weeks ago was almost 6 hours.
Coming back was 5.
It would be nice for it to go to at least Fontana to skip the Cajon Pass traffic... but I imagine the cost of acquiring the land to build south of Victorville is prohibitive.
I would bet they could get some Nevada Casino money invested

I am just waiting to hear what politician owns a bunch of property in Victorville.
|
|
Business is about to be booming in Victorville. Anybody who invested is property there is about to get their payoff

California to Assist Financing of High-Speed Train Between Victorville and Las Vegas.
A committee chaired by state Treasurer Fiona Ma is likely to approve $300 million in tax-exempt private activity bonds for Virgin Trains USA this year, followed by the same amount again next year. That will allow the company to issue about $2.4 billion in debt, roughly half of what it needs to build the first private, high-speed train in the U.S. West.

great idea, then it onyl takes 2 hours to get to victorville, or maybe more when the hoards start coming up the pass, and shut it down completely
