It seems in general that Repubs favor minimal regulations for business to maximize profits. Making money is their top priority, not the quality of the air we breathe or the water that sustains life. The puzzling part is that they also breathe air and drink water, but somehow don’t think pollution won’t affect them.
If you look at photos of LA back in the late 1960s, before we had many environmental regs, you can see how bad the air quality was. Many areas in China have dangerously polluted air due to lack of regulations on industry. I’m sure the Repubs don’t want those conditions here, but they simply ignore the cause-and-effect between unregulated industry and pollution because making money is more important to them. It is a short/sighted, ignorant way to live and it is hurting everyone.

In the 1960s in Sherman Oaks in the SFV, you couldn't see 5 telephone poles down the street in August, the smog was so bad. You could only rarely see the local foothills on windy days and one could almost never see the peaks of the San Gorgonio range further east. California's clean air efforts worked.

California has special and seasonal formulations for gasoline. These seasonal formulas do next to nothing for air pollution...but we can't buy gas from other markets or from out of state when there's a shortage.
Ever wonder why Arizona pays almost a buck a gallon less than California does? That's why -- single state standards. And in reality, Federal government preemption in areas like automotive standards is common place under the authority the Feds have from the Commerce Clause. Such restrictions and cost increases interfere with interstate commerce!

The above is, of course, total bullshit. 32 states have laws that says they will follow CA standards.
Four auto makers have signed onto CA's new standards for 2025 and have rejected Comrade Trump's plan to ruin the air quality here.
If you lived here during the 70s you know how shitty the air was.

Comrade Trump's 2 trillion dollar tax cut only increased the deficit by...two trillion dollars. Other than stock buybacks, there was no impact on the economy.
The Fed cut interest rates today out of caution that Comrade Trump's costly trade war with China is a continual drag on the economy.
