Kauai is the best. Drive all the way west to barking sands beach so you can be the first to watch the North Korean nukes flying.
But seriously, Kauai is GORGEOUS and Lihue airport is so easy to navigate.

That part of the West Shore, around Waiʻanae, has a homeless problem along the beach. Makaha has good surf.
The Ko Olina beach clubs to the south have 3 very nice resorts, the beach is public... great restaurants. A mile south of Ko Olina is Kapolie, a nice little town with everything, and not a tourist trap. Be sure to go to the North Shore. Haleiwa is a fun, funky little town.

Make sure you "price" everything accordingly. Many of the locals have a legitimate issue that all of the costs are going up for everything, and that they need to take in two jobs just to have a decent standard of living.
But the rich ARE getting richer in Hawaii, so if you know someone in the know...

A Costco membership is a must, in Hawaii. Same prices as here, on the Mainland and gas is 2.75gal.
Ten bucks will get you enough Portuguese sausage to last you a month
Oahu has a little of everything, but traffic has become awful.
